Janis Gavant
Opens Gallery
With the opening last month of
Gavant Gallery at 3889 Peachtree
Road, Atlanta artist Janis Gavant
started the first step toward ful
fillment of a long-time wish to
create “a gallery of art which
would be recognized for its un
paralleled excellence.” Located in
the Cherokee Plaza Shopping
Center, Gavant Gallery’s location
offers ample parking for unhur
ried browsing through the col
lection of paintings, drawings and
sculpture.
"For centuries art has been the
essence of culture,” said Mrs. Ga
vant. “A continuation of this tra
dition, is sparked by a feeling
which the artist projects through
his work, motivating a reaction,
a participation, from the viewer.
Rather than just considering art
for its decorative value, one
should be able to derive a soul-
searching experience from it,
completing the cycle from artist
to viewer.”
In addition to the current show
ing representing more than twen
ty of the South’s foremost artists,
the Gavant Gallery also provides
residential and office accessoriz
ing, painting rental service and
custom or ready-made framing.
The Gavant Gallery is open
