Our club had a wonderful
Shavuoth Luncheon and with
fine entertainers. They were Mr.
Hans Erman of the Bureau of
Jewish Education, whose talk
about Shavuot was very inter
esting. Cantor Robert Ungar of
the Shearith Israel Congregation
sang a fine selection of songs,
and Miss Katz did a wonderful
job of accompanying at the pi
ano. Everyone certainly did en
joy them.
A very happy summer to all.

Tips for Swimming Safety:
A safe summer of swimming
can be yours if you follow the
basic rules the American Red
Cross uses in training life guards.
The following are included in the
Red Cross training program:
1. Always obey the life guards
2. Do not run on the side of
the pool, avoid horseplay
3. Do not dive into shallow
water
4. Do not swim in diving area
5. Do not take bottles or other
glass objects near poolside
6. Wait at least one hour after
eating before swimming
8. Never leave small children
alone in a pool—life guards are
not baby sitters
9. Avoid swimming when fat
igued or overheated
10. Do not enter pool with open
cuts or sores
11. Life saving equipment should
be used only by lifeguards in
saving lives
12. Do not eat, drink, or smoke
at poolside. Concession stands are
usually provided for these purp
oses.
13. Do not falsely call for help
or in any other way distract life
guards. The lifeguard is trained
to save lives and should be ever
alert for accidents.
14. Tan gradually—do not over
expose yourself to the suns rays
