Sevelovitz Family Reunion
In Atlanta August 20-21
The descendants of the late
Me.ver Sevelovitz. Saul Sevelo
vitz. Sholom Sevelovitz. Mrs.
Freda Rich and the others will
meet in Atlanta for their first
reunion on August 20 and 21 at
the Riviera Motel.
Many plans have been made,
which include a dinner Saturday
night in the Mediterranean Ball
room at the Riviera at 8 p. m.,
and a brunch on Sunday morning
at the Progressive Club at 11:30
a. m.
On Friday night. Aug. 19. those
who will be in will go to serv
ices at the Ahavath Achim Syn
agogue. where the Sevelovitz
families were charter members.
On Saturday, there will be a hos
pitality suite at the Riviera,
where everyone is invited to
come by to meet and register. It
will be in the name of Berman
and Gerson. and will be posted
on the bulletin board in the lobby
of the motel. At the dinner Sat
urday evening. Sidney Gottler
will present a program of Jew
ish melodies, including old time
favorites and tunes from current
Broadway shows. After the
brunch Sunday, arrangements
are being made for those who
wish to go to the cemetery.

Mrs. Jan Peerce, the national
chairman of the Women’s Divis
ion, State of Israel Bonds, will
be in Atlanta on August 24 to
pace efforts of the Atlanta wom
en’s committee on behalf of the
State of Israel Bond campaign.
Mrs. Peerce guides the efforts
of tens of thousands of American
women volunteers in the achieve
ment of investment funds for the
economic upbuilding of the State
of Israel.
Hostesses for Mrs. Peerce’s At
lanta visit will be Mrs. William
Breman, Mrs. Marvin Goldstein,
Mrs. J. Kurt Holland and Mrs.
S. S. Selig Jr.
Mrs. Peerce has toured Israel
in 1961, 1962 and most recently
in the summer of 1963. In 1961
she served as a leading delegate
and as spokesman for the nation
al women’s division at the Israel
Bond Jerusalem Leaders Confer
ence.

Watermelon Cutting
On Wednesday evening, Aug.
17, the Ladies Auxiliary of
the Jewish War Veterans Post
112, Atlanta, will sponsor a
watermelon cutting for the mem
bers of the Atlanta Mental
Health Association’s Friendship
Club on Fourth Street. Mrs. Ann
Slesinger is chairman of this
Community Relations project,
which is held quarterly at the
Club.

University of California Study, "Christian Beliefs and Anti-Semitism,” to Archbishop John Hallinan
of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Mr. Hyman indicated his personal satisfaction with his meeting with
Bishop Hallinan, particularly the Bishop’s concern with the findings of the study and his personal
desire to work towards an amelioration of the problem.

the Chicken Fry being held from
12:30-3:30 p. m., Sunday, Aug.
14, by Congregation Shearith Is
rael, reports that he is very en
thusiastic over the advance sale
of tickets.
This year’s event is a depar
ture from the traditional Fish
Fry of past years and Mr. Mil
stein says that evidently Sou
therners still prefer chicken over
fish judging by the number of
advance receipts.
Mr. Milstein invites members,
as well as non-members of the
Congregation, to come by and
enjoy themselves in the air cool
ed social hall while partaking of
a fried chicken dinner. Arrange
ments have been made to make
available a take-out service for
people desiring to eat at home.
He says the donation per per
son is $1.50 and the receipts will
greatly aid the congregation in
the continuation of its many ac
tivities.
Tickets will be available at the
door from noon till 3 p. m.

has scheduled three events in the
coming week.
A swimming and ice cream
party for new members will be
held Monday, Aug. 15, at the

motorcade will leave the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center at 1:00
p. m.

Hadassah projects to new mem
bers.
