B’nai B’rith Creates
Full Time Unit
For Legacies
A Committee for Legacy De
velopment has been created with
a full-time staff to stimulate be
quests for the youth programs of
B’nai B’rith, it has been announc
ed by President William A. Wex-
ler. The Committee will be part
of the B’nai B’rith Foundation of
the U. S. The Chairman is Louis
C. Grossberg, of Washington. The
director is Mrs. Irma Bogdan-
off.
The Committee was authorized
by the Order’s Board of Gover
nors.
“It is ironic,” Dr. Wexler de
clared, “that since the early 1940s
we have discussed the need for
such a program but have never
really faced the issue. Many of
our outstanding leaders, who
have given years of service to our
Order, have written wills ben
efiting other organizations, bjut
have given nothing to B’nai
B’rith to which they devoted
their lives.”
Under the Committee’s pro
gram, every member will have
the opportunity to perpetuate his
name through a legacy of insur
ance, property, or other assets,
by designating the BB Founda
tion of the U. S. as beneficiary.
The three youth agencies — the
BB Hillel Foundations, the BB
Youth Organization, and BB Vo
cational Service—have designat
ed programs and projects which
will be permanently named in
memory of donors of gifts from
$5,000 up. These programs and
projects include scholarships,
chairs of Judaic study, lecture
series, and even an entire Hillel
Foundation at a major university.
Bequests and legacies in favor
of the BB Foundation of the U. S.
are exempt from federal estate
taxes.
