ADULT SOFTBALL ACTION
It was a bright, sunny day on
the AJCC softball diamonds Sun
day, Aug. 14, but for Mooses
Mices and Leb’s Lions it was one
of the cloudiest days ever—in
fact, they probably wished it
would have rained. Field’s Fal
cons battling the only team that
could catch them, took two
games from the Mices 8-7, 11-4.
Bernev's Braves, trying gamely
to stay in the race, also swept a
twin bill from Leb’s Lions.
In the first game. Field’s Fal
cons came from behind three
times before winning in the 8th
inning. Hits by Don Diamond, A1
Verner, Alan Wolkin and Ed
Solomon tied the game. Mort
Grosswald broke the game open
in the 8th inning driving in
Willie Green with the winning
run. Homers by Stan Wills and
Jim Clancy were not enough to

from the Mices were just too
tired and dropped all-4 decision.
Willie Green led the Falcons with

The Berney-Leb games were

The first game went to Berney’s

JWB Orientation
Institute At Camp
Barney Medintz
This year, the Orientation In
stitute for New Jewish Commun
ity Center Workers will be held
at Camp Barney Medintz, of the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter. The Institute will be held
for 8 days, beginning Aug. 30th
and going through Sept. 7.
J. W. B.’s Purpose of Orientation:
“The purpose of the Orienta
tion Institute is to help the new
Jewish Community Center work
er to be more effective in the
job he has to perform. In order
to do this, we try to educate,
inspire, develop an esprit de
corps with other workers in the
Jewish Community Center field.
We try to transmit significant
knowledge about the community
the worker is serving, the prob
lems the membership faces. With
this information, we try, in a
short period of time, to develop
some skills and acquaint him
with resources, so that he can
meet the needs of Center mem
bers more appropriately.
Most important is our attempt
to transmit an identification with
the purposes and goals of the
Jewish Community Center field,
so that the worker feels his role
is significant in the American
community. The content for this
year’s program is being develop
ed with leading Center workers
and educators.’’
The Curriculum will include:
A. The American Jewish Com
munity Today and Its Historical
Antecedents.
B. Organization and Coordination
of Jewish Communal Services in
the U.S.
C. Achieving Objectives of the
Jewish Community Center
Through the Use of the Social
Group Work Method.
D. The Jewish Community Cen
ter — Its History, Purpose and
Program.

ciples, Skills and Procedures
for Effective Practice.
