The 1966 Counselor-Trainees
of Blue Star Camps, Hender
sonville, are shown here per
forming at the 39th Annual
Music Festival. The Israeli
Asheville Folk Dance and
Folk Dance Performing Group
presented four numbers before
an opening night audience of
2000. The Dance Group was
directed by Robert Papier of
Pittsburgh, Penna.; while the
Trainee Program at Camp for
the 48 high school seniors was
directed by Eddie Klein of the
University of Georgia at
Athens.

Religious Leaders
Honored by Awards
NEW YORK (JTA) — Four
.clergymen, including the Rev. Dr.
Julius Mark, senior rabbi of
Temple Emanu-El, were the re
cipients here of the first annual
Religious Leaders Dinner award
given by the National Conference
of Christians and Jews.
The others who received the
awards were Francis Cardinal
Spellman; the Rt. Rev. Horace
W. B. Donegan, Episcopal bishop
of New York; and Archbishop
Iakovos, primate of the Greek
Orthodox Church of North and
South America. The occasion
marked the first time in ecumen
ical history that New York’s
ranking religious leaders will
share honors on the same dais.
Arl Historian Dies
NEW YORK (JTA)— Funeral
services were held here recently
for Walter Friedlander, 93, a
leading art historian and profes
sor emeritus of New York Uni
versity’s Institute of Fine Arts.
Bom in Berlin, he emigrated in
1935 to the United States and
joined the faculty at the Insti
tute of Fine Arts.
