Retreat in Tofiyo
..NEW YORK (JTA)— Rabbi
Edward T. Sandrow, president of
the New York Board of Rabbis,
is conducting a religious retreat
in Tokyo for all Jewish chaplains
in the Far East. Sponsored an
nually by the Defense Depart
ment for Jewish, Protestant and
Catholic chaplains, the retreats
provide the chaplains with op
portunities for study and medi
tation during their tours of
duty.

Ben-Gurion Plans
U. S. Visit in March
JERUSALEM (JTA)— Former
Premier David Ben-Gurion will
begin his forthcoming visit to the
United States on March 4 and
spend ten days there. He will ad
dress five large public meetings
in New York, Chicago, Philadel
phia, Los Angeles and Miami. He
also will attend a B’nai B’rith
conference in Washington.
The trip is being made under
auspices of the United Jewish Ap
pal but Mr. Ben-Gurion also will
deal with plans for the develop
ment of Israel’s Negev during
his visit.
Meyerhoff Awarded
Israel Bonds Medal
NEW YORK (JTA) — Joseph
Meyerhoff, of Baltimore, a na
tionally prominent Jewish com
munal leader, has been named
the recipient of the Israel Prime
Minister’s Medal of the Israel
Bond Organization. The medal
will be presented to Mr. Meyer
hoff by Israel Ambassador Avra-
ham Harman at a dinner in Bal
timore in December.
A member of the executive
committee of the Israel Bond
drive, Mr. Meyerhoff is a former
general chairman of the United
Jewish Appeal and has served as
president of the Associated Jew
ish Charities of Baltimore. Sen.
Joseph D. Tydings of Maryland
will be a guest speaker at the
dinner.
Kibbutzim Women
Want Cosmetics
TEL AVIV (JTA)—It’s the
women's task in the kibbut
zim to care for the home.
That’s the oprinion of the
adult population of Israel’s
kibbutzim as revealed in a
survey held in connection
with Kibbutz Artzi conven
tion on “Women’s Place in
the Kibbutz,” held at Nir
Davdd.
The survey further reveal
ed that 96 percent of the
women approved of the use
of cosmetics and makeup on
the kibbutz; 57 percent want
ed to raise four children and
77 percent indicated that
women’s penetration of men’s
jobs was necessary in the
early pioneer days but has
no place cn a modem kib
butz.

beat for pianist David Ramon
and Julio Orozco on bass and
flute.

Company continues its perform
ances of alternating plays. “To
bacco Road" will again be pres
ented Friday Dec. 9 with “Royal
Hunt of the Sun” on Saturday,
Dec. 10. “Waltz of the Toreadors”
is set to open on December 14.
