Nov. 29th marked the fifth week of exciting Young Adult basketball. There are only two weeks left of the practice round. In the first game Leb’s Lions romped over a weak Pazol’s Cad team 46-23. Ray Taratoot led the scoring with 9 pts. In the second game a battle of the undefeateds took place. Manning’s Marauders were edeged by Benamy’s Bulls 40-33. Bruce Finkelstein scored 16 pts. in the first half, but had trouble getting the ball in the second half, and was “held” to 24 points over all the Marauders. Benamy’s was paced by these two fine guards Don Diamond and Jerry Schwartz. Jerry had 17 pts. and Dan 14. The final game of the night featured the first overtime game of the season. Harelik’s Celtics edged Benveniste’s Benis 39-35, following a 29-29 tie in regular play. Steve Sobell hit for 15 pts. and Moose Miller had 12. The Celtics were paced by Phil Med- intz 15 pts. and Jack Hanchrow 11 pts. The “Group” Plans Ski Weekend Around the middle of January 1967, the “Group” is planning a ski weekend at Gatlinburg. Later details concerning time, place and expense will be announced. The group, comprised of single, young Jewish adults in Atlanta and sur rounding areas has surpassed ori ginal hopes and is truly the thing to do. For further information please contact Jerry Melman — TR 5-7881. CLUB NEWS DOZ-Beta News For Beta Cultural Project this month we had a speaker, Mr. Henry Cohen. He showed us slides he had from Israel and ex plained them to us. Beta is now selling Cadbury milk chocolate candy, at 75 cents for Vz lb. This is a fund-raising project part of which will go to charity. This month, for our commun ity service project, we gave a Thanksgiving basket to one of the Hillside Cottages, an orphan age on Courtney Drive. This par ticular cottage consisted of twelve children. DAY CAMP REUNION MONDAY DEC. 26 Hits - Splits - By EDDIE AJCC LEAGUE It seems as if you readers are in for a rough year coming up—did you notice that the subscription rates are going to seven and a half bills?—well, that ain't all— Editor A. Rosenberg is cutting all the comers he can—even shorten- the word Hannukah to Hanuka, and now I received notice to shorten my column about half— if you readers want to protest, the number is 876-8249 (watch Sandy Winston call and ask them to shorten it even more) ... If Adolf were smart, he’d quit taking up all that space with ads, that’s the solution, but you can’t tell him anything . . . Man, I wish he would join the bowling league—I could really cut him up good . . . Well, the only way to help is to use initials of the bowlers—at least that way we can get in more news—let’s try it . . . High for last week was S. Misikof (left off an extra f, Adolf) who had a powerful 233- 594 set . . . Second was M. Ner- - Bowling Bits S1LVERBOARD enbaum, who came up with a well-heeled (wish I could say the same thing about his shoes) 207- 592 series . . . Third high—there wasn’t any . . . Just a few good single games—B. Segal pounded out a 225 ... S. Silverman (the way he’s built, that S could stand for steamship) sprayed a 201 then sprang a leak . . . S. Prussack-ed a 203 . . . T. Kupferdrated a 201 ... A Applebaum-ed a 20# . . . M. Solver had a headache . . . And J. Ellison, S. Leventhal and H. Adler combined their scores for a 512—the first two guys had aver 200 so you figure what the last one had—I ain’t got the heart . . One other oddity worth men tioning — PW1 Teper the house builder or house wrecker (ac cording to which carpenter he gets hold of) nailed a 244 game Sun day morning and came right back the first game Thursday nite with a 108 . . . That’s about it—my crew wishes all of you a very Happy Channukkah (and don't touch that word, Adolf).
