milestone there is going to be a
reunion tea at the Atlanta Jew
ish Community Center, Sunday,
Dec. 25, at 2 p. m. All members,
past, which dates back to 1941,
to present are invited. For enter
tainment there will be a fashion
show with models in styles of
today as well as yesterday. We
plan to see all DOZ-ers there and
make this a big celebration.

Beth Jacob's Israel Bond Reception
Joey Russell, one of America’s
foremost entertainers, will appear
at Beth Jacob Synagogue Mon
day evening, December 19, in be
half of the State of Israel Bond
Drive. This was announced by
Jack Hirsch, chairman, and Pet
ty Bregman, co-chairman of the
Congregation’s Israel Bond Com
mittee. They also announced that
Israel’s Consul General Zeev
Boneh will join them in this re
ception which celebrates Israel’s
18th Anniversary of Statehood.
Jack Hirsch, the Congregation’s
Israel Bond chairman, is a prom
inent CPA, currently a vice pres
ident of Beth Jacob Synagogue,
and has been active in all com
munity affairs. His co-chairman,
Mr. Bregman, is past president of
Atlanta Lodge Bnai B’rith, past
chairman of Beth Jacob Educa
tion Committee, past vice presi
dent of the Hebrew Academy,
chairman Building Committee of
the Academy, and board mem
ber of Beth Jacob, Jewish Com
munity Center, Atlanta Lodge
B’nai B’rith and Hebrew Acad
emy. He has also been active on
the Committee of Builders and
Architects for Community Chest.
Mr. Bregman is a graduate of the
University of Georgia.
Joey Russell recently returned
from a fact-finding tour of Is
rael, where he met the leaders
and people of the country and
witnessed at first hand the prog
ress being made with Israel Bond
dollars.
Russell has starred in numer
ous night clubs and hotels
throughout the country, and has
appeared in stage shows with
such leading show business per
sonalities as Victor Borge and
Arthur Godfrey. He is a popular
master of ceremonies, and is
widely known for his humor.
An acknowledged master of
today’s fast-paced comedy rou
tines, Russell also is an accomp
lished vocalist. He presents a
combined repertoire of wit and
music to achieve an outstanding
performance which has been hail

Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Levine of
Atlanta announce the birth of a
daughter, Jennifer Bess, on Sep
tember 28. Mrs. Sara Rifkin of

Mrs. Sol Tenenbaum has re
turned from New York City
where she visited her family. She
also went to Boston with her fam
ily to attend the wedding of her
cousin, Jordan Charney, to Miss
Nancy Cooperstein. Mr. and Mrs.
Charney, with David Rothenberg,
are the producers of an off-
Broadway play “Viet Rock,” cur
rently playing to “standing room
only” audiences at the Martini
que Theatre. Jordan Charney,
who also appears in the play, has
appeared on daytime video in
“Love of Life” and “Secret
Storm.”
Donnie Melvin, nephew of Mr.
and Mrs. Alvin Tenenbaum, will
be seen on ABC-TV’s “Stage
67,” (Channel 11 in Atlanta) at
10 p. m., December 21. The pre
sentation will be Truman Capote’s
“A Christmas Memory.” Donnie,
who plays Truman Capote as a
boy, was pictured in recent issues
of Look Magazine and The Ladies
Home Journal, along with Ger
aldine Page.
