An unusual tour of the city
For 2,000 years Jews everywhere
have repeated the words “next year
in Jerusalem.” This year, Israel's
30th Anniversary, many will say
“this year in Jerusalem.” What is
being billed as “The most unusual
tour of the city in 40 Centunes,” O
Jerusalem!, will begin its
second edition May 1.
,This unique tour will provide
you the opportunity to “live"
Jerusalem and be part of it.
Here are some highlights from
the itinerary:
1. Visit to the Bedouin
Encampment, showing the way of
life during the biblical patriarchal
age.
2. Lectures by one of
Jerusalem's leading scholars on
“tracing the history of Jerusalem.”
3. Professor Zev Vilnay, author
of the most definitive travel books
to Israel ever published, will give a
spellbinding session of legends and

Ulpan teachers. Ulpan is a
language school wherejmmigrants
from 102 nations have learned
Hebrew. There will be the chance
to take a Hebrew lesson by the
Ulpan method and with the
assistance of an Ulpan teacher.
5. Participation in a traditional
shabbat dinner with “Zmirot”
conducted by students of a near-by
Yeshiva.
6. Visits to several ancient
synagogues not included on most
tours and visit to one of the most
beautiful homes of the Jewish
Quarter.
7. Visit to one of the ethnic
communities of Jerusalem, with
welcome by some of the village
leaders who will escort visitors to a
home of one of the residents for a
dinner, featuring their typical
cuisine.
