Stanley L. Daniels of Atlanta
a principal in the firm of
Jova/Daniels/Busby, has been
elected to the College of
Fellows of the American
Institute of Architects (AIA).
He is one of 65 architects from
throughout the nation who will
participate in investiture
ceremonies at the AIA National
Convention, May 21 in Dallas.
Fellowship is a lifetime honor
bestowed for outstanding
contributions to the profession.
In addition to many
professional activities, Daniels
is a member of Leadership
Atlanta and the Leadership
Atlanta Alumni Association,
on the board of trustees of
Ahavath Achim Congregation,
and a member of the Delegates'
Assembly of the Atlanta Jewish
Welfare Federation.
Samuel Weissman, president of
Associated Grocers Cooperative,
Atlanta, was elected president of
the Southeastern Food Cooper
ative Assn, at its recent convention
in Williamsburg, Va. Mr.
Weissman and his wife Sylvia have
three children and four
grandchildren. He has been
president and chief executive
officer of Associated Grocers,
Atlanta for seven years.

Victor Mishcon, 62, of London,
a former vice president of the
Board of Deputies of British Jews,
has been appointed a member of
the British House of Lords.
Ricki Lynn Seidman, daughter
of Eileen and Frank Seidman of
Atlanta, is serving as chairwoman
for the ninth National Conference
on Women and the Law taking
place this weekend, at the
Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta.
Ms. Seidman is a second year law
student at the University of
Georgia. Among the guest
speakers at the conference are
Shirley Chisholm; Carol Bellamy,
City Council president of New
York; editor Charlotte Bunch; and
presidential daughter-in-law Judy
Carter.

Burt S. Haskins, of Tampa, Fla.,
formerly of Macon, has been
named an assistant vice president
of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner
and Smith Inc. A graduate of the
University of Georgia, where he
received a BS degree, Haskins is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Haskins of Macon. His wife
Dorothy, a former Atlantan, is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Moskowitz of Atlanta. The
Haskinses live with their two
children in Tampa.
Haskins is a Major in the Air
Force Reserves, a member of the
Chamber of Commerce, the
committee of 100, the University
Club, Reserve Officers Assoc
iation and Air Force Association.
He has been a member of Merrill
Lynch’s President’s Club for the
past three years.

Alfred Rothstein, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Rothstein of
Atlanta, was recently honored by
the Georgia Association of
Educators with a first place award
in a television competition for a
special series on learning
disabilities. Rothstein is employed
by WALB-TV in Albany.

Israeli actor Haim Topol, who
played the role of Salah Shabati in
the 1950s film about a new
immigrant who worked in
afforestation, has contributed
$500 to JNF to plant trees in honor
of his friend, Danny Kaye. The
contribution was made at a recent
JNF Conference in Los Angeles
attended by the noted performer.

just completed the David
Schaeffer Seminar of Britain
sponsored by British Airways.
The course consisted of three
days of seminars in Stratford and
concentrated “input" of study of
hotels, areas, available cultural
events and other pertinent
attractions in London.
Savannahian Erwin Friedman
will become vice chairman of the
Georgia Board of Regents in July.
The Savannah lawyer is currently
serving a seven-year term on the
Board of Regents, which began
when he was appointed in 1976 by
Gov. George Busbee.

director District Five B’nai B’rith-
Florida, has been named assistant
to the executive vice president,
Arnold D. Ellison, in Atlanta. Neil
Rosen will reside in Atlanta with
his wife, Harriet, and children,

Alvin Rosenfeld, veteran
foreign correspondent and
diplomatic analyst, will be in
Savannah Saturday evening, Apr.
15, at the JEA to discuss his best
selling book, “The Plot to Destroy
Israel."
Dr. Judith Resnik, was
recently chosen as one of six
women to participate in
America’s Astronaut Program
from a field of 8,000. Dr.
Resnik has degrees in electrical
engineering and is an honorary
member of the directors of
Southern California, American
Technion Society.
Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin kibbitzes with his long
time friend Alexander Hassan (right), president of the American
Technion Society, during a recent visit. Begin will be guest speaker
at Technion’s annual international Board of Governors meeting to
be held in Haifa, June 25 to 28.
