Portman—Deich
Miss Myra Deich and Jerome
David Portman were married
April 9 in the Congregation B’nai
B'rith Jacob Synagogue,
Savannah. Rabbi Sholom
Strajcher and Rabbi Abraham I.
Rosenberg officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Mickey Deich of
Savannah. The bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben H.
Portman of Savannah.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride had Miss Marjorie Deich
as the maid of honor. The
bridesmaids were Miss Ann
Merlin of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Stuart
Milner of Rockville, Md., Miss
Ann Pories, and Miss Peri Meyers.
Michael Portman was the best
man. The ushers were Barnard
Portman, Michael Deich,
Matthew Deich, Harold Heyman,
Jerry Kaminsky and Sammy
Meyers.
The ringbearer was Keith
Siskin.
After a reception in the
synagogue social hall, the couple
left for a wedding trip to Mexico.
They will live in Savannah.
Mayer—Goldstein
Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Harold
Mayer of Atlanta announce the
engagement of their daughter
Meredith Jo, to Harvey Alan
Goldstein, son of Julius Goldstein
of East Greenwich, R.I., and the
late Mrs. Goldstein.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Philip Shankerman of Clarksdale.
Miss., and of Mrs. Max Lorch
Mayer of Atlanta, and the late
Max Mayer.
Mr. Goldstein is the grandson of
Mrs. Gussie Rubin of Providence,
R.I., the late Abraham Goldstein,
and of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Herman Fogel.
Miss Mayer, a graduate of the
University of Pennsylvania, holds
a master's degree from Temple
University, and is currently a
Ph.D. candidate in clinical
psychology at New York
University.
Mr. Goldstein received his B.S.
degree at Columbia University and
his M. A. and Ph D. degrees at the
University of Pennsylvania. He is
an assistant professor of
environmental and urban systems,
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
State University, Blacksburg, Va.
A July wedding is planned.

Koplin—Brahn
Miss Koplin
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Koplin of
Macon announce the engagement
of their daughter, Rhonda Beth
Koplin, to Dr. George Rigo Brahn,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brahn of
Macon.
Miss Koplin is the grand
daughter of Mrs. Henry Koplin of
of Macon, and the late Henry
Koplin, and of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Shuman of Atlanta.
Dr. Brahn is the grandson of
Mrs. Ruth Karson of Macon and
the late George Brahn, and of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gordon.
Miss Koplin is a graduate of the
University of Georgia with a
master’s degree in education and
was treasurer of Sigma Delta Tau
Sorority. She is presently
employed by Cobb County Board
of Education, at Griffin Middle
School.
Dr. Brahn holds a bachelor of
science degree from the University
of Georgia and a doctor of
medicine degree from the Medical
College of Georgia. He is a
diplomat of the American Board
of Surgery and a fellow of the
Southeastern Surgical Society. Dr.
Brahn is currently serving a tour of
duty at Warner Robins Air Force
Base.
The wedding is planned for July
30 in Macon.
Meyer—Rowe
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lena of
San Mateo, Calif., announce the
marriage of their daughter, Debra
Dawn Rowe, to Dr. Roger P.
Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard A. Meyer of Atlanta.
The wedding took place on
Saturday, May 6, at the
Hillsborough Racquet Club in
Hillsborough, Calif.
The bridegroom is the grandson
of Mrs. Charles F.W. Bove, of
Sunrise, Fla. and of Mr. and Mrs.
David N. Meyer of Atlanta.
Scott Meyer, brother of the
bridegroom was best man and
Richard Meyer, brother of the
bridegroom was an usher.
After a wedding trip to Kauai,
Hawaii, the couple will reside in
Albuquerque, N.M., where the
bride is a registered nurse at the
University of New Mexico and the
bridegroom is completing his
residency in obstetrics and
gynecology.
The bridegroom graduated from
the University of N.C. and then
received his medical degree at the
Medical College of Georgia, in
Augusta.

Mr. and Mrs. Sydney
Wallenstein of Atlanta announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Marlene Debra, to Daniel D.
Hootstein, son of Mrs. Ruth
Coffman and the late Philip
HooUtein of Boston.
Miss Wallenstein Is the
granddaughter of Samuel Silver
and the late Ann B. Silver of
Atlanta and of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Bernard Wallenstein of the
Bronx, N.Y.
Mr. Hootstein is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sklar
and of Mr. and Mrs. Hyman
Hootstein of Boston.
The bride-elect received an
associate degree in science from
the DeKalb-Emory University
program and is employed as an
ultra-sound technician.
The bridegroom-elect is a
graduate of Phillips Academy,
Hanover, Mass., and received a
degree in history from Harvard
University, Cambridge, Mass. He
is presently employed as eastern
franchise director for Orange
Julius of America of Santa
Monica, Calif.
A fall wedding is planned.
