Mrs. Paula Roscnhaft has
bwn named as the Dixie
director of the Dixie Council
BBYO program, headquart
ered at the AJCC. Paula is
married to Mark Roscnhaft
and has two children. She holds
a masters in counselling from
Michigan State University, and
has worked as a teacher and
counsellor on the high school
level in her home state of
Michigan and in New York.
She has a background of
personal involvement in BBC
as a youth.
Leonard Cohen, executive
director of the Jewish Family and
Children’s Bureau, has been
elected chairman of the
membership committee of the
Georgia Chapter of the National
Association of Social Workers.
Georgia NASW represents over
800 social workers providing
services in government agencies,
mental health centers, hospitals,
voluntary social services, and
private practice.

Freedom was recently presented to
Ambassador Arthur Goldberg by
President Jimmy Carter for
distinguished service as a Cabinet
officer. Supreme Court justice and
chief delegate to the United
Nations.

Karen Alter, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gary Alter, is one of 38
Atlanta area youth chosen from
approximately 10,000 Junior
Achievers to attend the National
Junior Achievement Convention
in Bloomington, Ind., next week.
She was president of her Junior
Achievement company this year
and has won numerous awards for
her JA activities.

While the Saudis and the
Egyptians have already'had a visit
from U.S. President Jimmy
Carter, Israel will soon be
welcoming the President's sister,
Ruth Carter Stapleton. The
controversial missionary-lady
preacher is due in early September
for a 10-day stay at the head of the
‘‘Ruth Carter Stapleton
Pilgrimage Tour of the Holy
Land.”

Miss Tsippy Shochat of Tel
Aviv, Israel, was the recent
houseguest in Atlanta of Dr. and
Mrs. Irvin Blumenthal. Miss
Shochat also visited her sister and
brother-in-law Dr. and Mrs.
Richard Blue of Winston Salem,
N.C. She is now touring the west
coast and Canada before her
return to Israel. Miss Shochat was
associated with the Solomon
Schecter School of Atlanta when
she resided in Atlanta.

Rabbi and Mrs. Harry H.
Epstein are off to Israel soon on a
well-deserved sabbatical. Rabbi
Epstein recently celebrated 50
years as spiritual leader of
Ahavath Achim Synagogue.

The Bat Mitzva of Carla Bobes
will take place at Sinai Temple in
Los Angeles, on Saturday, Aug. 5.
Carla is the daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. Norman Bobes. Mrs. Bobes
is the former Toby Rosenberg of
Atlanta and is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Rosenberg.

Sidney Feldman has been
elected president of the Georgia
State University Alumni
Association.

Henry Rosenbaum was
appointed recently as project
implementor of the Joint
Distribution Committee in Israel.
Rosenbaum was the first graduate
in 1973 of the Federation
Executive Recruitment and
Education Program of the Council
of Jewish Federations. Prior to
settling in Israel in May, he served
as assistant director of the
Rochester Jewish Community
Federation.
Mrs. Dvora Namir is greeted
by Prime Minister Menachem
Begin as she presented her
research report on the status of
Israeli women. She headed a
research team that found that
Israeli women are exploited in
wages and do not receive equal
rights in various other
situations.
Mark Brafl, a graduate of Tel Aviv University's Department of Film and Television, is getting
oa the Job training in Hollywood. He's on a six-month assignment to Danny Arnold, executive

named for her great-grandmother,
the late Lillie Taylor of Huntsville,
Ala.

published novel about a former
traveling salesman and real-
estate speculator, who turns
big -time politician and
