Makar said. Makar said that Acworth is ???one of the few municipalities keeping up a cemetery.??? Because of the low cost of the lots, a great many people are al lowing relatives and friends to pur chase the cemetery lots and thusly in creasing the maintenance cost. The council unanimously approved the new rate change effective immedi ately. Acworth maintains perpetual care of the city???s cemetery. Alderman Makar also recommend ed that the beer stamps be increased in accordance with the rest of the county. The new rates proposed will come within one-half cent of that charged in Cobb County. Under the new rates, an 8 oz. can of beer will be taxed at 3V2 cents; A 13-16 oz. can will have a 5 cents tax per can; and a 17-32 oz. can will have 9 cents tax per can. The council voted to accept this new rate schedule unanimously. In other business, the council: ???Accepted a resolution to require that vacant buildings not in use be horded up to prevent illegal entry and for public safety. If the owner does not do this, the city is authorized to take this action. City Attorney Lemon Aw trey was instructed to draw this up in the form of an ordinance. ???Announced that applicants are being interviewed for City Manager. ???Heard a report from Recreation Chairman Phil Robuck that the recrea tion program is going smoothly. Ri chard Goodwin is the director.
