McCurley, Route 1, Acw orth, received the Army Commendation Medal recent ly while serving with the 189th Aviation Company near ku, Vietnam. Spec. McCurley earned the award for meritorious service as a sheet metal worker in the company. He entered the army in April 1969, completed basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and was last stationed at Ft. ?????? Three Piece * ???x set Acworth Presbyterian Church Regular M7.85 Day Circle at the Presbyterian Church are among those who have donated gifts for a boy or girl at Thornwell Oi^han- age. The minister will take the gifts to Thomwell Friday, December 18. Those who would like to bring gifts for these children should place them in the Assembly room marked Thomwell. Things needed include bath towels, kitchen tow els, pillow cases, sheets for single beds, good used coats, and other usabie clothing, record players, electric coffee pots, frying pans, and girls and boys pajamas. Once again the Presbyterian Men of the Church invites members to join them in a Card Fund for Thomwell Orphan age and Quitman Home for Retired. The men figure that the average cost of sending a card is about 12 cents. So in lieu of sending Christmas cards to church members and pastor, the Men invite you to give this money to Homer Barrett, treasur er, and sign the giant card in the Assembly room. On Sunday, December 13, grades 4, 5, and 6 will conduct worship services at the Acworth Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Those participating include Martha Van Scriver, Jay Jordan, Mark Hughes, Donna Armstrong, Lyndy Bryant, Veronica Martinez, Jaye Bullard, Karen Baxter, Dale Re- mine, Karen Ammons, Brenda Blocker, Mike Ross, Brian Hughes, Karen Van Scriver, Sarah Martinez, Ann Oakes and others in the 4, 5 and 6th grades. The pastor will bring the message on ???Christ???s second Coming: Joy. The Family Christmas celebration will be held Sunday. A covered dish Christmas supper will be at 6 p.m. followed by a Christmas program by grades 1-9 at 7 p.m. Joy gift offering for retired ministers and families will be at 7 p.m. Grades 1, 2 and 3 will present a recitations and manger scene program.
