In 1692, thore was a rapid surge of witchcraft delusion in Salem Village, Massachusett . About ten girls falsely accused certain people of bewitching them. In the hysterical cha os during the next four months, one hundred people were arrested and tried. As a result of these trials nine- civ.ii were hanged and one was crushed to death. The historical events, the apprehen- • Sive attitudes which existed, and the hasty actions taken by the Puritans have been captured and developed into a distinctive drama entitled The Crucible by Arthur Miller. The Atlanta-Morehouse-Spelman Play ers will present this play on December 3, and 4, in Howe Hall. Why not come? Mr. John Boone, Probation Officer, conducted the tour. The group observed the inmates at their various daily acti vities. They were especially interes ted in observing the different elaases taught by prisorners. Skills and talents are put to great use in the mills, shops, and classes.
