to them the “ Proceedings” of llieir Legislature. V,'t
are not only generally, but individually concerned io
all acta of Icgislaiiou, because these acts involve fn.
sonatas well .apolitical rights, between which there
exists a most intimate connexion. It is the intereil
then, of every man in the community to be timely it-
quainlcd with the action of our representatives upon
these rights. This is a desideratum—to supply winch
the Journal is intended. At the present we labor under
much inconvenience for (lie waul of it, For near, and
sometimes more than three months alter the expiration
ofthc Session, the Laws of the State, with a few creep,
lions, are as a “ scaled Book” to the great mast ofthc
people j and frequently, ouch are the injurious efiecU
produced bv this delay, that men have been known,
who, in obedience to a preceding, have actually viola-
led a subsequent law which had been reversed or modi,
tied—not knowing that a new had been substituted
for an old law.
In addition to the entire proceedings of the Legislaiun,
the JounNAL and Hisronr, will contain the general in*
telhgence ofthe day, and its interest will be increased
by faithful reports of Ihc transactions of the important
Redress Convention of Georgia, which contemplates
sitting in Milledgeville, the ensuing session. The De
bars in the Convention, as well as those in the Legis
lature, will lie regularly and correctly reported; for
which uurposc arrangements are making with a capa
ble ana experienced Stenographer.
The Journal and History of the Times, will be
published daily, and the Legislative and Convenlionit
Proceedings of each day laid in exlenso before the pub
lic on the subsequent morning, and un;> ediatelv Iran;*
milled to any part of the State to which the papetmty
be ordered.
The large and interesting mass of information wbicb
this Publication will contain, and the great expeitK
which must be incurred to carry it into operation, wil
rcqniro a liberal patronage, and such a patronage the
ditor Hatters himself will bo extended to him.
It is unnecessary to enlarge on the convenience anl
important utility of such a publication to members of
the Legislature, in enabling them to ascertain inrneii-
alcly the precise stale of any measure in which they
aro interested, and to keep iheir constituents advised vf
the progress of public business, w illiout the abstraction
of time and attention from llieir special duties, expen
ded in letter writing.
