PROPOSALS
For publishing in the Town of Milledgcviltc, Georgia
.During the ensuing Session ofthe legislature,) '
A DAILY NCWSPAPEIt, TO BE CALLED
The Journal
Ofthe proceedings of the Ugislalure of Georgia,
ASD
History of the Times,
BY Me D. J. SLADE,
of Macon, Geo.
“ Lege totum, sci vis scire totum—Read all, jf
you would know nil.”
T HE people of Georgia are much in want ofiae.
diuni of intelligence which will promptly traesmit
to them the “ Proceedings” of their Legislature. We
are not only generally, but individually concerned*
all nets of legislation, hreauae these acts involve pe,.
zonal as well as political rights, between which thru
exists a most intimate connexion. It is the interest
then, of every man in tho community to be timely at-
attainted with the action of onr representatives upon
these rights. This ia a desideratum—to supply which
thcJour.NALisintcnded. At the present we labur under
much inconvenience for tho want of it. Fornrar, and
sometimes more than three months after the expiration
ofthe Session, the Laws ofthe Mato, with a few excep
tions, arc as a “ sealed Book" to the great mass of the
a te ; and frequently, such are the injurious effects
need by thia delay, that men havo been known,
who, ill obedience to n preceding, have actually viola
ted a subsequent law which had been reversed or modi
fied—not knowing that a nets hid been substituted
for an old law.
In addition to the entire proceedings of the Legislature,
tho Jodunal and History, will contain the general in
telligence of the day, and ilsinlerent will bo increised
by faithful reporla of the transactions of tho important
Redress Convention of Georgia, which contemplates
sitting in Milledgeville, the ensuing session. The De
bates in the Convention, as well as those in the Legis
lature, will be regularly and correctly reported; for
which purpose arrangements arc making with a capa
ble and experienced Stenographer.
The Journal and History or tub Times, will be
ruhlished daily, and the Legislative and Conventional
’rocccdings uf each day luid in exlenso before the pub
lic on the subsequent morning, and immediately trans
mitted to any part of the State to which the paper may
bo ordered.
The large and interesting moss of information which
this Publication will contain, and tho great expense
which must be incurred to carry it into operation, will
require a liberal patronage, and such n patronage the
editor llattcra himself will be extended to him.
It is unnecessary to enlarge on the convenience snd
important utility of such n publication to members eT
the Legislature, in enabling them to ascertain immedi
ately the precise atato of any measure in which the;
nre interested, end to keep their constituents advised ol
the progress of public business, w ithout the abstraction
of time and attention from their special duties, expen
ded in letter writing.
Terms—The Journaland History ofthe Times will be
published daily with a new type, by machinery, to i>c
expressly procured for the purpose and on gout) paper, iqd
and will be put to subscribers at the price ol ti't
Dollars per session, payable on the reception of the
first numbor.
tCT” Those to whom subscription lists will he rent,
arc respei Ifully asked lo lend llioir exertion and influ
ence to the undertaking, and to make a return of
any subscribers which may be obtained, by the tOtA
of October. They are paiticniarl) requested to do so,
that the Editor may be enabled to make the proper ar
rangement, and lo furnish promptly the firpl pumbeto
to each subscriber.

patronage which has been so liberally extended to it.
