He has provided himfelf with apparatus for concerning and communicating Galvanism Phis while it gratifies the mind of the inquisi tive philofopfier, may, most probably, be ap plied, with success, to the cure of many of the disorders to which we are liable. It is also a faCt, that by clearing the stomach and bowels occafi mallv, predilpofi ion may be re moved and good health restored. It is, further more, a faCt, that nine tenths of diseases, in their various forms and stages, are cured, if cur ed at all, by the agency of purgative medicines, blood retting excepted. Dues he not confider all others as the mere modus me dendi of fanciful and, fomefimes, visionary theories; whfih mv or may not answer the desired objrCts ? Does he not know, that unless he is really a mailer of the science, and keeps this objeCt in view, he may (innocently, no doubt) kill more than he mav chance to cure?— He certainly does ; and every honrft one wil confefs it. As to the opinions of dishonest and ignorant empericks, they mav be believed by those who are fond of long fits of ffi knefs— long bills—ruined confutations, or premature death. Purging is found to be the most effectual method of relieving over oiftended vefltls or intestinal rengeftions, of anv in use. The choice of these is open misjudged, from tradi tional prejudices, habitual customs, or a fear of doing wrong. But certain and effectual purgations can never do harm—the use of them often prevents the necefiitv of calling in the at fending ptuftcian ind if called upon, his work is more than half done.
