Mining Company Asks the United

Representatives of the Spanlsh-

vannah and have consulted General
Stone as to securing the services of
2,000 of the .“punish prisoners to word
In their Iren mines near Santiago. The
owners of the mines at Juragun a >
also in the deal. Very many of tho
present Spanish prisoners al Santiago
formerly wurked in these mines, which
have been closed since the United
State* declared war against Spain. It
Is claimed that very few guard* would
be'necessary, as the men would much
prefer working in the mines to leaving
the country. It Will also relieve our
government cf the trouble and expense
involved in sending these men ocross
the sea. Gen. Stone has forwarded the
offer of the SpanlsU-Arosrlcan Mining
company, which is largely controlled in
this country, to the secretary of war,
whose decision will be awaited with In

the Arabs, they fastened upon the

Arabs returned, rejoicing at all tuat
