HRS. HOBSON IN QEOROIA.
Hotter of the Hero Came to Lltbia
Springs Today.
Mrs. Sallle 0. Hobson, the mother of
the famous Lieut. Hobson, the hero of
Santiago harbor, arrived at Lit his
Springs! Ga., this morning and wilt
spend several weeks at the Sweetwater
Park hotel at that resort.
Mrs. Hobson left her home at
Greensboro. Ala., yesterday on her way
to Lithin and she arrived there at 11
o’clock this morning .rom Birming
ham on the Southern railroad.
She will remain at the springs for
the benefit of her health for some time.
The coming of Mrs. Hobson to Lith
la Is an event of notable interest to the
people of Georgia. There will be a
great desire on uie part of the people
to become acquainted with the mother
of she famous Hobson, and she will be
the recipient of much mention while at
the springs.
DR. BATTEY’S ACCIDENT.
* Thrown to the Ground From His
Bicycle Yesterday.
Many friends will regte to tear of the
painful accident of Dr. W. W. Battey.
who was thrown violently to the
ground from his bicycle while riding
up Telfair street. He was very much
bruised by the fall, but fortunately no
bones were broken, and he will prob
ably have recovered completely within

ABOUT THAT OEOROIA WRECK.
The News as Sent Out From the Scene
of Accident.
A telegram from Rutledge, Ga.. in
] regard to Ibe wrecking of a freight
tra.n there yesterday is ss follow*:
Freight train No. 8 on the Georgia
railroad was wrecked here this morn
ing and sixteen ears, loaded with pro-
visions for th.» soldiers, were complete
ly demolished.
The train was en route to Augusta
ami the wreck was caused by the turn
ing over of one of the cars in the mid
dle of the train. This caused the- de
railment of the fifteen cars behind. The
train was going at considerable speed
and the destruction of the ears was
complete. The track was torn up for
a distance of 150 yards.
One of the train hands, a negro
whose name has not yet been ascer
tained. was fatally Injured, but the
rest of the crew escaped without se
rious Injury. The train was In charge
of Conductor Harris.
No cause for the sudden turning over
of one of the cars has yet been, found
out. The wrecking train Is now on
Ilia scene and the debris is being rap
idly cleared away.

then when they went to let out the
sheep they all get on the sheep's backs
and rode out.
