! caure Itself and that unique, unap
proachable aar ery will live In history
us leng as the language endures.
At Intervals now It is being given lo
Atlanta, where 10.000 survivors are as
sembled to perpetuate the memory of
“the storm-cradled nation whtrh fell.”
It is one of the Immortal legacies bf
that conflict.
It Is said that "panic’'—which la deri
ved from the Bern? ahout with which
the greet god Pan put to, flight a whole
army—beet describes the confusion
with which Federal ft)tree on many a
field retired before the yell with which
the “Rebels” dashed down upon them
It 1b no wonder, therefore, that
It struck terror to the hearts of the
dusky dons In the trenches around
Santiago.
TNe Philadelphia Record says: "The
rebel yell has been heard again. This
time It arose from under the red, while
and blue banners of Shatter's battle
lino In front of Santiago last Friday,
and no ery In all Cuba that day had
so true an American sound. Great Is
tho rebel yell ond may It echo down
the asps.”
It Is echoing now: and some'of the
echoee have reached the walls'of the
escurial with a force which makes the
very throne totter to its fall.
There Is no penny whistle volume
about the rebel yell.
“UNDER WHICH FLAGI"
The people of Richmond county nre
now confronted with one of the most
vital Issues which have ever arisen in
our history. It is vital, and yet It is
one which should be easily and quickly
decided.
The time has come when every roan
nuißt cast iu his lot with the reckless
and irresponsible, who are willing to
trample under foot the sacred right tv i
franchise and representative govern
ment, op he must manfully ally himself
with that better and purer class of
men who, without Pharisaical cant as

many have participated, resolutely

The uU-ae woman in a museum al

We can't all be heroes, but we rani

It's easier to play on a bond organ

Home men are always getting up

The amateur corneter Is continually !

The popularity of some people la due i

Locksmiths are not necessarily hu

Bough Riding at (1 Canty.
It was on July the first.
In the year of 'to.
When the shells began to burst
And the air to palpitate
With blood and heat and Santiago
stenches.
That a four-eyed man hi buff.
With a smile 'twas good to see.
Tolled: "You riders In the Rough,
Will you climb thot hill with roe
And drive those bloody Dagoes from
their trenches?”
Then all the Rough Riders said, “Yea,
sir. we will!
With the greatest of pleasure we 11
charge up that hill:
Wherever there's scrapping we're
bound to be there:
You lead, and we'll wallop those Span
iards for fair!"
I
Then the shells began to rain.
And the Mausers shot to kill.
Hut the men thought of the Maine
And they went on up the hill.
A singing of the "Star Spangled Ban
ner."
And they • laughed and shot and
swore
They would climb that hill behind him,
If they had to swim tn gore
And go halves with hell to find him
Our Teddy rode in such a handsome
manner.
Just then, biff, « bullet knocked over
* his horse,
But Teddy Jumped off him, right side
up, of course,
And he brandished his sword and want
on up that hill,
With a yell that the Spaniards are
shaking at still.
I
Oh. we swarmed along the crest
Of the hill of El Caney:
And our bravest and our best
Plied their blood that fearful day.
But they drove the flying Spaniards all
before them.
And they didn't care a cuss
For a bullet more or less,
And they didn't malm a fuss
When they fell and died there, yes—
With the Star Spajigled Banner flying
o'er them!

Pome few women discredit this,as
sertion, hut those who have tried a
Gas Range could not he induced to
adopt the old-fashioned method again.
You see it is sft easy to regulate the
Gas Range. If you want op# veg table
to cook more slojvly than another, you
have but to turn the thumb screw
and you can reduce the heat to any de
gree you desire. The same with your
roast. If it is doing too quickly, you
don't need to throw or- n the oven door
and run the risk of chilling it. You can
regulate your range to suit your meat.
