’ Kgipiur ol Drunken Soldier Last
Afternoon.
I Resides the trouble with Henry Shlv

(yesterday, told of In another column,
Charley Porter and Jnn. Thomas, of
I the same hand of soldiers, spent last
, night st police station as a result of
disorderly conduct on the streets lest
afternoon.
Will Johnson, a colored hack driver,
was the prosecutor in the case con
cerning the two at court today.
Johnson said that he was driving a
Ihi vty in a hack on upper Broad streyt
I last afternoon, when the two soldiers
{walked up to the vehicle and grabbed
I the horae by the bridle.
He demanded thut they turn the an
imal loose, hut they demanded In turn
(that the persons in the vehicle should
get out and let them ride. On being re
tused such a request Porter grabbed
the Whip In the vehicle sigt struck
Johnson. He (Porter! then harked the
I vehicle Into the curbing, and the fright
j. ned occupants, who were women. Jump
|*»d out.
Officers Johnson and Wren now np
peared on the scene and took the two
'soldier*. Thomas help<*d the officer to
arrest Porter. At court, It ,was soon
proven that Thomas had attempted to
get Porter away from the vehicle and
was really not guilty to any great ex
tent. He was dismissed.
Porter was fined *lO or twenty days
