Lucy accused of striking her with a

Evidently some one had hit her. from
the look of her cranium. Anyway, a
dispute had arisen between her and*
llawls over a small bill Lucy claimed
that gentleman owed her for laundry
work.
She had gone to Mr. Rawls’ house,
yesterday afternoon on a dunning ex-j
peditlon and had behaved In a bolster-1
ous manner. Mr. Rawls struck her.
and she began throwing rocks at him.
She Is said to have used abusive lan
j guage, regardless of her statement
j about “Infame'' words. She pleaded
>v!th Judge Baxter .that she was not
I ready for trial, but could give no good
reason for nol being. She was fined
$7.50 and Mr. Rawls was levied on to
! the extent of *2.50. Even aftre the
fine was levied she Insisted that she
was not ready for trial.

Further Details of the Tampa Act at
the Ninth Cavalry.
Tampa. Fla.. Aug. 10. An official
investigation of the Jail delivery mad >
on Saturday night by a detachment of
the Ninth cavalry discloses the fact
that the men were led and prompted
in their lawlosanesa by two white offi
cers of the regiment, who were among
the first to enter the Jail after the
locks had been broken by the men. and
who oiderwl the men to shoot and kill
the Jailer if he refused to deliver their
comrade.
The excitement caused by the affair
is still very Intense, and if the demand
of Governor Bloxhatn that the culprits
be reuirtted to the s?a*.e authorities
'for trial and punishment is compiled
<v!th. there ia sqorcely a doubt hut that
the full penally of the law will be im
posed.

from Key West and brought among
other passengers the famous filibuster.

two schooners left Key West yesterday

Wanderer returned to port today, and
