In the hlatory of twlnship la the esse
of Remus and Romulus, who fell out
and fought because one made fun of
the municipal enterprise of the other.
These twins have been fighting and

Eor my part, I prefer St. Paul—ex

Among the many things which come
between them may be mentioned St
Anthony’s fnllß. Of course you know
the story of the steadfast old saint, and
his temptatjon. It mu a queer idea
to name a fall for him.
And then, there are the falls of Min

whose adventures used to trickle
through the Friday recitations in the
old days, the school days, the high old
days of school. "Hiawatha's wooing”
must have been pretty warm, for Min
nehaha —strange as it may seem for a
woman—has almost dried up, and the
laughing water has died down to a
titter.
But to render unto Minneapolis the
things which are Minneapolitan, she
has some homes where hospitality
yields precedence to nothing except the
Ten Commandments, broad streets and
beautiful parks, and a public library
with which St. Paul, as h« gracefully
confesses, cannot even compete.

When you get there you cry. like
Yoriek's starling. “I ran t get out.”
There was not one cheerful functionary
who would offer any hope of my get
ting back to the trunk lines. No,
there was one. St. Paul was only 600
miles away, and the trains running in
that direction positively went through
like a well lobbeyed appropriation.
“No doubt?” .
"No doubt.”
Very well.

Italy is said by the wegs to have been
built after designs by Michael Angelo.
Black Hawk was the architect of Rock
Island. They show you his monument,
on which the tomahawk and
calumet lie down together, and
the crowds assemble on sultry
after noons at the top of a
lofty peak known as his Water Tower,
from which the famous old chief used
to look out upon Ihe expansive pano

Tbe world lies at your feet, and the

“ Beyond the Alps ties Italy.”
That is to say, St. Paul.
