Thi~FOREI()N POLICY.
Continuation of the National Policy
Convention.
Saratoga, N. Y., Aug. 20—The nation
al conference on the foreign policy of
the United States resumed its delibera
tions this morning. It Is presided over
by Robert Treat Paine, cf Boston.
In a brief address he defined himself
as an entl-annexatlonlst. We must
treat those islands captured from Spain
as prizes to be dealt with as we think
beet. We may not hold them by right
of conquest, but we should see that a
proper form of government is estab
lished over each. Moorefleld, Storey, of
Boston, next addressed the conference.
The girl who listens lo soft nothings
hopes they will eventually mean a
great deal.
Some men pray for their daily bread
and hustle for their nightly chickens.
