Then the conductor said: ••I'll put you all off the car If you don't." Mr. Hammond told him he might do so If he chose. Thu car waa then" stopped and the conductor old a great deal of taiklug and throating, the attention of all on board being attracted to Mr. Hammond and party, who were made to appear In the light of dead heats. Mr. Ham mond was cool and firm throughout, never losing his temper for a moment. The conductor then said: •‘You are beating your way; but 1 don't want to have a scrap with you. Wait until we get to the end of the line and we will see the inspector about this.” The end of the line was ihe depot, and Mr. Hammond and party started to leave the car, when they mopped in the door by the inspector and conduc tor. After the conductor made his state ment; Mr. Hammond again fully went over the matter with the inspector, who replied; "1 don't care about all that. You have got to pay your fares before you leave the cars." Mr. Hammond refused to do this, pushed his way past the two officials, who were trying to step him, and started down the sidewalk. The in spector then told the conductor to call a policeman and have the party arres-. There were about fifty of her little friends prerent. Among them were Misses Nellie and Edith and Master Elliot Dnwson. of Savannah, and Miss Fannie Gay, of Tybee Island. She re ceived mony pretty presents. A birth day supper was served, after which they had singing and dancing. The evening was very pleasantly spent. Photograph of Dr. Bob five.
