Army and Navy League.
The called meeting of the At my and
Navy League was held yesterday af
ternoon with a very gratifying num
ber In attendanee. Owing to the un
avoidable tardiness of Mrs. M. P.
Carroll. Mrs. W. A. Latimer as first
vice president, presided. Mrs. C. H.
Cohen reported having sent to Mr*.
W. Y. Atkinson »26 for the purpose of
providing lunches for furloughed sol
diers as they pasted through Atlanta.
Thanks were returned to Messts. L. L.
• Fleming, Thomas Alexander, Thomas
Barrett and Anbury Hull for the bale
of cotton which they obiulatd for the
league and raffled, addin'®, to the
treasury $«0. Mr. James Tobin -.as the
lucky winner of the bale, anil very
generously donated it to the league,
and it had been sold for $24.G0, mak
ing In all the sum of SM.SO from these
gentlemen's efforts. Officers repor
ted having given material aid to the
families of several soldiers left In des
