SAVANNAH FIGHTS CIOABSTTES.
TU# grand Jury of Chatham county
hae Indicted hai: a dozen druggists
ami doalcra. who are accused of sell lug
cigarettes to minors.
It la stated that some of the deni
era are selling two elgarettea for a pen
ny and thus starting yougsters to
smoke when they donotbave the nickel
to buy a package. H Is a violation of
the state law to sell cigarettes to mi
nora and It seems that the law haa been
a dead letter In Savannah as In most
cities where those who have things to
sell and where there arc those who
want to buy find no trouble Iw getting
together despite the statutes.
The elgaretie habit Indulged In to
excess and that. too. by minors, is an
unmitigated evil. But the most effl
dent way to stop the habit Is to work
on the victims personally, especially
when they afe minors. We recom
mend. to the Chatham grand Jury, fall
ing the fathers of the boys summons
ed as witnesses, so that they may get
the benefit of their Investigations. It
will prove a valuable aid to a course of
home training to go alongside with a
more strict enforcement, of (lie state
Jaw.

ACT AS TOD THINK.
The time to do a thing Is when you
think It. But do your thinking nil nt
once, as hard as you want to and ns
long as you want to. But when you
are through thinking then net one way
or the other.
There’s many n genius who thought
n little while, originated a brilliant
idea, and then took a rest. The
chances are when he starts up to
think again, he finds that some fellow
who nets as he thinks has come along
and run away with his idea. Then a
man feels like kicking himself.
Quick thinking daoj-n't mean slovenly
thinking, but it means thinking quick
ly as closely snd carefully as tr one
thought through a whole year. Eve
rybody has a hobby these days. Think
it out. act upon it. and then let It ei
ther become a success or bury it, and
start out to thinking again. The man
who continually rides a hobby makes
about as much progress as the lad in
the nursery on his wooden rock ng
, horse.

LITTLE THIHOS
About this season of the year. An
| gustn bids good-bye annually to a
! number of Its boys and gtrla. We lose
j them temporarily, for vacation and
home-coming comes regularly and Is a
part of all school and college curricu
la.
But what a difference it would make
each year If some 300 or 400 boys and
girls came 4o Augusta to enjoy high
school and finishing school or colleg
iate advantages. Whot a difference In
dimples and dollars to a city’s make
!up s few girls can create. Talk about
American gold spent In Europe by our
tourists! Augusta can stand that, but
when.other long fortunate cities steal
our girls and boys and make us pay
so dearly In the bargain—well, rcprla
ajs are In order.
The abstemious Chinese laundrymen
of the city won’t send to the Celestial

What's the matter with Augusta do
