The Return of ■ South Carolinian
From Cuba.
Soneca, 8. C., Sept. 16.—l.leut. L. W.
Jordan. Jr., of the First infantry, came
home yesterday on a sixty days' sick
leave. He shows the t Recta of the ter
rible campaign in Cuba, being very
much reduced and very weak. One
would not recognize him as Ihe same
robust, fine-looking young officer who
le't his home here for the scene of war
only a short while ago. He reports
having suffered severely from fever
before leaving Cuba. His family and
| friends are truly glad to nave him at
heme again.
Rev. J. H. Wilson, the former pastor
of the Presbyterian church, is here
for his health. He has been doing ;
evangelistic work for some months in j
the eastern portion of the state, and
has had quite a severe attack of sick
ness from overwork and malaria com
bined. He has already begun to im
prove and bones for a speedy restora
tion to his wonted good health. His
host of friends he about* -ep-et his
sickness, but are delighted to welcome
him among them again.
