FEARS AN INCENDIARY.
Savannah Family Will Move to Ba

Savannah, Ga., Sept 23,-Mra. Mary
Walsh and the members of her family
are anxious to have the police ferret
out the villain who Is ao*desirous of
having their home destroyed by lire.
Three times Ui the past six months the
torch has been applied to their dwelling
on the cornerof Montgomery and Jones
streets, and they are now thinking of
deserting the property for fear they
wi! be cremated by an Incendiary.
The last attempt to burn the house
was on Wednesday morning about t
o’clock, when there was a noise like
on explosion in the back of the house
The Inmates were quickly aroused,
and found the building In flames, with
cotton and kerosene oil literally seat
tered about the first story. The fire
department was railed out and the fire
extinguished before it had done much
damage.
Mrr, Walsh ts a widow whose hus.'
band died about three years ago. She
cannot understand who it Is that has
designs on the property and the lives
of herself and children. The vicinity
in which she lives is considerably
worked up over the many attempts to
burn her out.

Order* to Oct His Army Corps In
Readiness.
Jacksonville, Fla., Sept. 23. —Prepa-
rations are being made somewhat soon
er than was expected for the embarka
tion of the Seventh Army Corps for
Cuba. An order has been received nt
the chief quartermaster’s department
to equip the regiments of the corps at
once for four month’s service. This
order, coupled with the arrival In this
city, of John S. Sullivan, chief super
intendent of the United States trans
ports. Is believed to mean that Gen-
Fitxhugh l.ee's corps Is soon ‘o depart,
especially as this port was recommend
ed to the secretary of war as a point
of embarkation for troops. Mr. Sulli
van was ordered by the war depart
ment to report to Col. Pond, chief
quartermaster of the Seventh army
corps for instructions. He ts well
known as "Broncho Bill” In the army,
and assisted In loading the transports
ot Tampa and Key West.

ernment Building For Waste Paper.
A large brown pa'nted tin can Is at
tached to the poet in front of the gov
ernment building. On the can appears
the words:
"Civic league Receptacle for
waste paper."
Other cans have been placed In oth
er portions of the city. This is the
Idea of the Civic league proposed
some time since that Is now being car
ried out.
The Idea Is to keep the waste paper
from being thrown on the street* of
