Killed a Big Rattler.
Tweed, Ga.. Sept. 29. Mr. Mack
Holmes, residing eight miles from
hr re. had an experience a night or two
ago. He killed a beef in the morning
and allowed it to hang In the shade
until evening. After supper he went
to put the carcass in the smoke house
and heard a peculiar sound. He
thought it was a locust, but on look
ing closely discovered an immense
rattlesnake near the smoke house. He
procured his gun and killed the rep
tile. The snake had ten rattles and
the usual button. Mr. Holmes thinks
the rattler was making for the smoke
house, where he had quarters engaged
for the winter.
