In the morning wo have hot biscuits, fried meat. some-, tmes birds, hot coffee, Cuban molasses (and it Is good, you bet, and I wish you had some of it as It would surely do you good) Oh! we live high, l can tell you. It takes five cents in postage to send a long letter. I send this one and you will have to pay the postage, as we can, not get any stamps here. The letter then closes with sentemes not of interest to the public. Court convenes here next Monday. Burke county .registration Is very small this year, owing to a change in that law which takes away the reg ular traveling registrar. Killed a Big Rattler. Tweed, Ga.. Sept. 29. Mr. Mack Holmes, residing eight miles from hr re. had an experience a night or two ago. He killed a beef in the morning and allowed it to hang In the shade until evening. After supper he went to put the carcass in the smoke house and heard a peculiar sound. He thought it was a locust, but on look ing closely discovered an immense rattlesnake near the smoke house. He procured his gun and killed the rep tile. The snake had ten rattles and the usual button.
