Somehow or other, I have always
had the Idea that Richard Harding
Davis was a snob, a thoroughly super
cl 11 tous, conceited and generally dls
agreeable young man. It seems,
though, that I'm wrong, for In talking
with one of the Second C.eorgia boys
vesterday. he told me of meeting one
of (he Rough Riders In Atlanta, who
swore by Pavis.
"I never encountered a better cam
paigner,” said the aforesaid Rough
Rider. "He put up with soldiers' fare
without a murmur; he was always
gcod-natured and obliging, and on the
day of the big fight he worked with
the Red Cross rorps right under the
heaviest kind of lire. It Is true, ho

So this is Richard Hording Pavis.
