rose and started out of the room.
The reporter heard him remark that
be was going straight to a lawyer’s
office and would see about the matter. !
However, he came back and talked
tho matter over after the meeting. He
ehowed his bill. It was one for haul

and some odd cents. The trustees
said he had not been given permission
to take the contract, Bupt. Evans had
not given him permission. He admit

HRS. FRAIN INJURED.
Stepped on a Nall Which Penetrated
Her Foot.
Mrs. R. A. Frain met with a painful
accident yesterday afternoon. Mr.

COTTON LETTER.
Augusta. Ua.. Oct Cable* were a
trifle weaker for both spots and futures
and the opening here was in full sym
pathy. After the opening liquidating
sales, the market became exceedingly
dull, but showed no strength whatever.
The only bull card was the belief that
the guvernment report would allow a
lower percentage. While our Informa
tion coincides with the general opinion
and <he dally reports received indi
cate Its probable correctness, still the
expected large reeelpts will govern the
market. The presentt quotations are
speculatively at prices that scalps both
ways can be made profitable, but we
believe any radical break will tie the
place to buy for good profits. Total in
