Significant Orders.
London, Oct. 24. The British ad
miralty has issued a number of signifi
cant orders this morning. The dock
yards at Portsmouth, Devonport a> i
Chatham each received instructions to
prepare six thirty-knot torpedo boat
destroyers for commissioning, so that
they will be able to put to sea in 24
hours.
Overtime Hours.
Over time hours begun ou the first
class cruisers Europa and Andromedas,
so as to hurry them for sea service.
Several gunboats in the different
boatyards were ordered to postpone
unnecessary refitting. Finally the
Cunard line and the White Star line
have received from the admiralty an
intimation to hold their subsidized
steamers in readiness for turning to
the naval officials.
A Home Tip.

“France would hardly come off better
in a war with England than did Spain
in the war with the United States.
France would be better employed de
