Club Women and Club Work.
One of the most significant evidences
of the wide-spread Influence of the
club movement among women is the es
tablishment at St. Petersburg. Russia,
of a woman’s club, known as the Rus
sian Woman's Mutunl Help Society. It
is conducted somewhat oji the lines of
the educational and industrial unions
which are such powerful agents for
good tn many different cities tn this
country.
The K Utah an Club already counts a
membership of over twelve hundred,
and the enthusiasm developed In the
society cannot fall to be fruitful. When
It Is realised that Russian law only
very recently permitted the formation
of organisation among women, the
strength of this club becomes phenom
enal. The consent of the Caar and
Czarina to form the club was obtain
ed after repeated efforts, and may be
taken as an effect or the permeating
influence of the elub germ.—Margaret
Hamilton Welch, in Harper s Bazar.
