dier*. are allowed to ride In It.
The negroes refused to listen to their
officer*, but General Boynton state*
that there will Ik? no further trouble.

Washington, D. C.. Nov. 4. The
quartermaster's department has begun
arrangements for the shipment of Gen
eral Carpenter’s brigade to Puerto
Principe. Ports along the north coast
|of Cuba w here troops must be landed
| for this province are not good. It Is
pro Viable that Neuvltaa w ill be selected
ias the place of landing, but the trans
ports will not be able to get within 10
miles of the port, and the troops and
supplies must all be landed with light
ers. The troops are to be sent to Puerto
Principe on the 22d, and It mny he nec
essary to have transports ready some
days In advance of that date. The
troops will embark at Savannah.
