SHE NEVER SPOKE
But Her Hand Got Her a Husband
Just the Same.
Toledo. Ohio. Nov. 8. - Rev. Father
Lurien Nougaret. pastor of St,
Joseph's French Catholic church hw,
celebrated a wedding somewhat out
of the ordinary In that the couple
were deaf mutes. When the pastor
came to that portion of the ritual
where he asks "Charles Smith, do
you take Lillie Bruno for your lawful
wedded wife, to love, honor, cherish
and protect, through life." etc., no an
swer was heard, but the groomsman
standing at the side touched his aim,
and at the same Instant the bride
groom banded the pastor a beautifully
engraved card, on which appeared the
words "I do," in gilt letters. The same
ceremony was gone through with the
bride and when the pastor finished
asking her the question if she would
love honor and obey, etc., the brides
maid touched her arm and the bride
handed the pastor a card with the
words “I do." The pastor then signal
led for the wedding ring by holding
his thumb and forefinger together to
represent an "G.”
