UNITED (TATK TgOOPS IN AUGUSTA.
It Is somewhat of an unusual thing
for Augusta tc have any ctmalderable
number of United State* aoldlar* In
her midst.
Our city suit even slighted by Gen
Hhnnian in his match to the sea. l’ua
alltly Augusta would not have relished
a vlatt and review of the United State*
troops under those circumstance* and
lat that time. But there la no doubt
I imt that every one In Augusta would
pay their respect* and grace the occa
sion with their presence If Gen. Young
'and ht* staff found time to review the
Second army corps now here.
SUNDAY’S HHAI.D
Sunday's Herald, as usual, will be
the brightest and beat paper offered
the reading publle of Augusta on that
day.
IV f* Interesting to note that Sun
day's Herald will routaln more news
and better news than any other Au
gusta paper. It will have more col
umn* of reading matter and In every
way will lie a newspaper for newspa
per reader*.
He sure you get Sunday's Herald.
Mr. Agee's letters to the Herald
giving narratives of the elvil war, are
highly Interesting. The men of the
army division here are reading them
with as much relish as arc the old
Confedtt.
Uncle Silas Is soliloquising over the
situation: ‘‘lt am the prosperous man

It am de unprosperous rival ilut hol

squirm. He don't need It in his busi
ness."
Atlanta's jubilee goes steadily ors.
Why U It that the proper Invitation
cannot be extended by Augusta and
why cannot, the city secure the pres
ence of President McKinley. Surely
there is more reason for the President
to visit Augusta, It be Is urged to do so
than to stay away.
Gen. FiUhugh Lee. the sal la til eoro-'
