Indians Negotiate Treaties.
Washington, D. C., Dec. 6.—Secre
tary Bliss has received a dispatch from
the Indian Territory Indicating a
1 change In sentiment on the part of
Kome of the Indian tribes with whom
the Dawes commission has been nego
tlatfnf treaties. Dispatches say the out
| look Is more favorable, and another
meeting of the Cherokee council lii
about to be called to frame a new
treaty. The Creeks are also said to
be preparing to negotiate for anoth
er treaty.
Another Michigan Storm.
Detroit, Mich., Dec. 6.—The storm
Of Sunday and Monday has been suc
ceeded today by another heavy sno v
stoivn. A big fleet, of Height steamers
ie tied up near the lower end of the
Detroit river, waiting for higher wa
ter to enable them to get across the
hallows. Heavy northerly winds have

The Governor Empowered.
The next section provides;
■"That so soon as the states of Ten
nessee anl North Carolina or either of
them shall have adopted reciprocal
legislation and hare provided for the
appointment cf commissioners, the
governor of this state Is requested to
■name the commissioners in bemlf of
this state and provided for in th* first
section hereof, and to employ special
counsel to represent tho state of Geor
gia In the hearing before the joint
commission.
"The governor is hereby authorized
to fix the compensation of the commis
sioners appointed by him in behalf o_
this state, and also tet agree with the
special counsel upon the terms of his
employment.”
Powers of Commissioners.
The next section provides:
"The commissioners so appointed In

FIRE AT COHPRESS
I The Inman Compress Building Burned
a Bit
At about 2 o’clock this afternoon,!
i the cupula on the Inman Compress
| building was discovered on fire. The
’ fire department was notified by 'phonr
that such waa the case, and No. 2 re
i sponilcd. The blaze was soon extin
guished.
The damage amount* to about five
i or ten dollars. It Is not known how
! the fire originated.
