“Again, the Bulletin says; 'lt is not
an easy matter to build 2.238 miles of
railroad, which is what the Colonel
proposes to do.' Nobody will dispute
that proposition. Of coarse; It Isn't
easy. Col. Bujme haa never «a>d It
was. The fact that he has been la
boring for four years perfecting fran
chises, malting surveys for the most
practical route, and getting rights of
way I* proof positive that It Is not easy
work. During this time I note that
he has the following ready for work
of construction:
“Knoxville, Tenn., to Greeß field,
Ind., 381 miles: Cyotliiana, Ky.. to
Columbus, 0., 165 miles; Vineenne;,.
Ind., to Jefferson, Ind., 125 miles. To
tal, 671 miles.
“As I have understood from Col.
Boone his second project will be to
connect this work from Knoxvll’e to
Port Royal, S. C., a distance of 446
miles, and when that is completed,
I hat Is, when charters are perfected,
survey and profile of route and rights
of way obtained, then be will have
1,117 miles ready for construction.
This is exclusive of 40 miles of belt
line at Indianapolis, and 30 miles at
Knoxville, Tenn., in all 1,237 mile.'.
This is one thousand miles less than
the Bulletin figures. But 1 believe that
th« Bulletin's scepticism will give
place to faith when tbs contract for tbe
1,237 cutlet 1« mad*.
“It will not be considered Irrelevant
In this connection to call attention to
some statistics In railroad building in
this country.
In 1830 a gigantic railroad project
was put on toot. It was 23 miles long.

Under th* Bed
The New York correspondent of The
St. Loiilr Post Dispatch nays that Emil
Marx, a lone bachelor, looked under his
bed one morning recently, and there
found a woman, a profeimional burg
lar. This will Interest the many ner
vous women who have so long been
looking under the bed, trembling lest
they should find a man there. Mr.
Marx did not realise that he had a wo
man to deal with, so he armed himself
with a stout club and exclaimed, 1
"Come out from there.” "I will,” an
swered a shrill voice, ”if you don t hit
me with that stick.” Mr. Marx, much
surprised, said he would not, and the
burglar crawled out. feet first, looking
very sheepish indeed. In her arms she
still clasped a bundle of $34 worth of
Mr. Marx's clothes. When, afterwards,
her pockets were searched, seventeen
keys of all shapes anil sizes, twisted
wire and burglars' small Implements,
were found in her pockets. The wo
man was Mrs. Pauline Lmbekant, aged
32 years.

So many men like our styles and prices they

it should. For every normal man Akes his Suit
