nity. threw a blanket over the dogs
head, and In a jiffy darted into their
quarters, cot Its throat, letting the

chance they skinned him. made way
with the hide, cut the carcass Into
quarters, and on Christmas day Wil
liams, myself, Wes Robards and sev
eral others had frted dog, and you may j
say what you please about be.r meat,
buffalo meat, coon meat, 'possum meat
or any other kind of meat, but the best
meal of all Is dog meat when It Is
baked brown. When the dog was mis
sed, bills were posted through the prlis- j
on. offering fifty dollars for the return
of the pet. and on one of these posters
the prison wit wrote:
For the want of bread, the dog is dead;
For the waut of meat, the dog was eat .
For this every prison was put on
halt rations, when at best they were
getting about a quarter of a equate
meal for a whole day's fare.
