The Record of a Triumph!
CONSOLATION for THE suffering.
There is no little consolation in the
thought that, however the imposter may
flourish for a season, he cannot long con
tinue to delude mankind. llow many
men contrive to acquire a brief and
flashy reputation, and then sink into
disrepute and oblivion ! This is espe
cially true of the pretenders to medical
skill, who, in an age when diseases
abound, seek to inveigle themselves into
the confidence of the public, and to im
pose upon it with their noxious nostrums. !
We confess that, years ago, when we j
first heard of the universal celebrity of
professor Holloway, we distrusted his J
lofty claims, and arrogated to ourselves I
a superiority of discernment which j
would not allow him to entrap our
judgement. Most heartily do we beg l
his pardon for the unjust imputation.— 1
A careful study of his system convinced !
us that we were indeed mistaken, and
that the world, to do him justice, should
immediately, as it undoubtedly will
hereafter, tank him foremost among its
benefactors. He Las solved the myste
ry of human diseases, and proved that
all medical treatment, from the time of
Hunter, has been based upon false pro
mises. Jciiner did not effect a greater
revolution in the method of dealing with
the small-pox, than Dr. Holloway has
done in the ordinary medical routine of
the present day.
The human blood is not a mere fluid,
coursing through the veins and arteries,
and partaking of the more qualities of
other fluids. It is—startling ns the
statement may seem—Alive, it is, in
plain words, “ the life of man." All
physiological diseases, such as indiges
tion, deranged kidneys, liver, heart, lung-,
stomach, all impure secretions, in the
body, and a large majority of epidemic
and endemic diseases have their orig n,
or, at least their exciting cause in the
impure state of the blood. Cleanse that
and keep it cleansed, and no sickness
can prostrate, or even assail the system,
ihis splendid discovery has given a lus
tre to Professor Holloway’s name, trans
cending tho renown of heroes and states
men. We do not wonder at the great
fame he lias acquired in Europe, Asia,
Africa and Australia. We rejoice that
he has visited our own country and
opened an establishment in New York,
which will he a very Temple of Health
to our citizens. His Pills and Ointment
are tho most wonderful sanatives which
science and skill have yet produced.—

“In the midst of life we are in death.”
Suddenly the grim Archer bas sped his fatal,
unerring shaft, and the Fraternity- mourns the
loss of a Brother, stricken down in the vigor of
manhood.
May his sudden call hence be to us a solemn
warning, and leave an indellible impression that
we have a far deeper concern in tho world of
spirits than in the world of sense. May his sor
rowing wife and aged mother, in this overwhelm
ing affliction, find consolation in the cheering
hope, that what, is their loss is his eternal gain.
Asa token of our love and esteem,
Resolved,-— That we deeply mourn the death of
our worthy Brother Acrelics A. Walton, for
his uniform kind and courteous deportment

Resolved, —That we sympathise heartily with
the bereaved wife and mother in the loss of one
so kind and gentle in all the relations of life, and

the widow and the fatherless.”
Resolved, —That the Secretary convey to the

Casssille, Ga., May 28 Ik, 1850.
Mr. A. C. Day.—Dear Sir—lt is with pleasure
that 1 testify to the character and value of Day’s
Magical Cleanser, after having used it for some
six or seven years. In the year 1850, 1 was hav
ing a house built, and by accident, a small bucket
of ivory black was turned over upon anew laid
floor of my house, which when wiped up, left a
black spot as large as the bottom ofa half bushel.
Alter rubbing this spot with strong soap suds, I
poured on it about throe ounces of your Magical
Cleanser, and rubbed it over the spot well with
a cloth, for some live minutes, which removed
entirely all stain of tho black from the floor.
I have frequently applied it to grease spots on
clothing, and have no hesitancy in saving that it
superior to anything ofthelind I have ever
seen used. It removes the spots or stains wiih
out the slightest injury to the color or texture of
tho good-, is easily applied, and requires hut a
few moments to perform its work.
Respectfully yours,

Da. Geo. B. Green—Dear Sir— l feel it a
pleasure to make known to you and the public,
the surprising effects of the Oxygenated Bitters,
in relieving ine from that most discouraging
disorder, dyspepsia. I have been afflicted for
the last seventeen years with the usual attendant
symptoms, viz.: constipation of the bowels,
headache, pain in the chest, flatulence, acidity of
the stomach, and severe nausea; and most of
the time I was extremely bilious. I have used
various remedies, have been strict in my diet,
but all to no good purpose. Hearing of the Ox
ygenated Bitters, I procured some; have used
four bottles, and find the bad /symptoms all re
moved, and myself once more in the enjoyment
of health. None but the dyspeptic sufferer, who
has felt all the horrors of the disease, can at all
appreciate the value of the medicine.

agreeable itching of the scalp. I am satisfied i
that those who use it will not regret it, us it gives \
the appearance of having been recently oiled. I [
urn prepared, therefore, to recommend its use to !
all who arc'desirous of having a beautiful head
of hair. l am, sir, yours, etc.,
11. L. Stewart.
Prof. Wood. Dear Sir: My hair had, for several
years, been becoming prematurely gray, accom
panied by a harshness which rendered the con
stant application of oil necessary in dressing it.
When 1 commenced using your llair Restorative
about two months ago, it. was in that condition ;
and having continued its use till within the last
three weeks, it has turned to its natural color,
and assumed a softness and lustre greatly to be
preferred to those produced by the application of
oils or any other preparation I have ever used. 1
regard it as an indispensable article for every
lady’s toilet, whether to be used us a llair Re
storative, or for the simple simple purpose of
dressing or beautifying the hair. You have per
mission to refer to me all who entertain any
doubt of its performing all that is claimed for it.
Mrs. 0. Symonds.
Cincinnati, Ohio, February 10, 1654.
Watertown , Mass., May 1,1854.
Prof. O. J. Wood —Allow me to attest the vir
tues and magic powers of your Hair Restorative.
Three months since, being exceedingly gray, 1
purchased, and soon commenced to use, two
bottles; and it soon began to tell, in restoring
silver locks to their native color, and the ha r.
which was before dry and harsh and falling oft*,
now became soft and glossy, and it ceased faDimq
the dandruff* disappeared, and the scalp lost all
its disagreeable itching, so annoying before, and
now, I not only look, but feel young again.
Respectfully yours) etc.,
Charles Whitney.
