by the action of the bystanders, Allen
wilted and hurried from the cabin, and
also from the boat, on her touching terra
Anna. As the case now stands, Allen
charges his wife with infidelity and de
sertion. and she accuses him of cruelty,
neglect and wilful persecution.
The matter is in the hands of the gen
tlemen of the green bag, and will
soon furnish fresh food for the scandal
loving public.
Jurgen, who seduced tfce wife of a Mn
Hill, in Greeaporty was very nearly
killed by the injured husband. The wife,
who supposed herself dying, is recover
ing, and it is probable Jurgen will also
gain strength enough to take himself but
of this part of!the country.
Pauline Brady has sued for a. divorce
from Edwin L. Brady, whom she charges
with beating, pinching, cursing, throw
ing umbrellas at her, and indulging in
other pretty little amusemeuts at her ex
pense. Mr. B. denies all the allegations,
and says his mother-in-law and politics
are all the trouble. He says his wife
hated him, and repeatedly said “she
would prefer a nigger to a white man. 5 ’
The case went to a referee, and the wile
was allowed alimony to the amount of
$321 per annum.
Found Drowned.— \ few minutes of
one o'clock this-, afternoon the body
.1 soldier, named" Cook, belonging to a
Cavalry Regiment was found, floating in
the river opposite the city. The remains
were brought into the dock foot Qf. Lin
coln street The deceased appears to
have been in the river about two weeks.
There is no marks of violence on his
person. . - •

By authority of the Secretary of. the Treasury,
the undersigned has. assumed *the General Sub
scription Agency for the sale of United States
Treasury Notes, bearing seven and three-tenths
per cent, interest, per annum, known as the
SEVEN-THIRTY LOAN.
These Notes are issued under date of August
I,sth, 1834, and are payable three years from that
time, in currency, or are convertible at the
option of the holder into
UNITED STATES 5-iO SIX PER CENT.

These bonds are now worth a premium of nine
percent., including gold Interest from Nov.,
which makes the actual profit on the 7-30 loan, at
current rates, including, interest, about ten per
cent per annum, besides exemption .from. Mate
and muidcpalLixatwn, tohick adds from, one to
three, per cent, more, according to the. rate levied
on other property. The interest is payable sen
annually by coupons attached to each not
which may be cat off and sold to any baa! or
banker.
