Baldwin, A. B. Clitheral, W. B. Bell, and
others, all active leaders in the efforts made
in Alabama to sustain the Confederate cause.
Referring to this fact, the Mail says:
They now, however gracefully yield to the
logic of events, and favor the earliest possible
return to the Union. Such, also, we know
to be the course of nearly every prominent
leader of the late rebellion in this section, in
cluding Gov. Watts himself aud Judges Phe
lan ami Stone, of the Supreme Bench of the
State. This is as it should be. Let us all
unite in a common effort to gather up the sev
ered timbers of our one great ship of State.
They have not been shattered or broken, but
the .seams have merely been opened and the
bitter waters of strife let in for a season.
We must now go to work and bind up
tighter and stronger than ever these loosened
part.-, and put the noble old ship again before
the wind —the stoutest, largest, strongest and
most powerful of the world.
Allcock’ii Poroui Plasters.
These Plasters have the compaetuesa of kid leather
and the flexibility of a silk glove. They huve cured
varicose veins and external aneurisms. For all affec
tions of the chest, weight about the diaphragm or up
per portion of the bowels, in colds and coughs, for in
juries of the back, for all strains or bruises, for a weak
back, for nervous pains of the bowels, and other ner
vous affections and cramps, for heart affections—in all
these cases they have to be used to be properly appre
ciated.
DR. I. T. HENDERSON'S LETTER.
Farnvii.le, La,, March S, 1850.
Da. T. Ali.oock— Sir : I have been suffering under
a severe attack of neuralgic disease of my bowels for
years, with hypertrophy of the heart, and have tried ev
erything known to the practice of medicine from the
very best M. D's; but truth prompts me to say that
your plasters have giveu me more permanent relief
than anything else I have used, and I believe will pro
duce a perfect cure.
The counter-irritant effect of your plasters is pro
duced iu such a mild and gradual way, they so invigor
ate the circulation around the parts to which they are
applied, and exert upon all nervous diseases such a
great sedative influence, that I place them confidently
at the head of every plaster now in use.
Yours, ve* truly,
jeC-lt AND . HENDERSON, M. D.
