A Provost Court for the Post of Savannah is hereby
established. It will be open for the trial of causes each
day (except Sundays;, from nine o'clock a. m, until
two o'clock p. m. It will have Jurisdiction in all
cn ses of misdemeanors and violation by civilians of
Department, District and Post Orders or regulations
which are committed within the limits of thD Post.—
The Judge may Imprison convicted parties for periods
not.to exceed six months and inflict lines net to ex
ceeiij five hunched dollars. All monies so collected
will be turnei over to the Post Treasurer. The
Judge may also,nppoint such officers and establish
such rulea'for bis Court as he may deem necessary,
subject to the approval of the General Commanding.

Lieutenants, twelve non commissioned offic-r*, and

1“ ! * Captain will be in immediate '-ommand of the
whole force, under the direction of the Chief of Police
and his Assistant Chief. The force for Precinct A w ill
be one Lieutenant, five non-commissioned officer* nd
thirty-four privates-- for Precinct B, one Lieutenant,
seveu non-commissioucd officers end fifty-four pri
vates. The non-commissioned officers and privates
will Ik divided equally into three reliefs, &nd there
will niways be one relief on duty.
V. Each Precinct will have a station boose, nt which
the officers and enlisted men of that Precinct will be
quartered. No enlisted man belonging to the Poiiec
force will be allowed to leave his station house (ex
cept when on duty; without a written pws from the
Lieutenant iu charge of the Preclhct.
VI. The privates or patrol m n will wear thetr
proper uniform, viz: uniform pants, blouse, forage
cap with letter of company and cumber.of regiment
thereon, and a badge oi blue Million oh the left breast
Those, however, belonging to the laCth Reu’irr nt N.
Y. Volunteers, will wear the Zouave uniform oi ttmlr
regimeut, with the blue badge upon the breast,—
They will when on duty wear the waist belt and he
armed with a baton.
VII. Each man will have n certain “beat” assigned
him when on duty, which he will not quit, except for
some urgent cause, such at a call for nssi-tanco, to
quell a disturbance, to pursue an i (Tender, or in case
of fire. The men will be posted and relieved in the
manner prescribed l>v Par. 394, U. S. Revised Army
Regulations, Edition of 1303.
VIII. No patrol man will he allowed on any pre
text to enter any building upon his beat, except to
quell a disturbance. No buikting will be searched for
stolen or contraband goods without a written order
from the Chief of Police, his Assist ant, or the Captain
of Police.
IX. It ctinll be the duty of each patrol nian to strictly
follow these instruction*, and obey all orders he may,
fr -m time to time, receive from his superior officer.
X. It shall be the duty of each non commissioned offi
eer to stri< tty follow these Instructions, to obey all orders
lie may receive from his superior officer, to post and re
lieve Ids squad iu the manner prescribed above, and while
liis squad are on post to visit each man at least once on l li
hour, to arrest and confino any patrol man found drunk,
or In any building, and to report to the Lieutenant in

XI. It shall lie the duty of each Lieutenant to rnf irci

that, all unlisted men under his command wear the pro

his men once each day. He will see that his Station

during the previous 51 hours.
Xlf. The Captain of Police w ill be held strictly re
sponsible far the enforcement of these regulationq and
for the execution of alt orders received from the Chief of
Police, hi* Assistant or Post-Headquarters. He will con
solidate the morning report from the t wo P« edicts und for
ward such consolidated report to the Chief of Police each
day before II o'clock, a. m.
Kill. Tlieae regulations will be read to the Police force
each morning fur one week, and every Sunday morning
thereafter at Inspection.

General Orders Nos. 25 aud 2T, current series, from
these Headquarters, respecting the City Market, are
hereby revoked, and the following regulations arc es
tablished for the government of the Market: - •
X. All persons Who pay the lees prescribed by the
old ordinances of the City of Savannah, may .-ell butch
er’s meat, poultry', fruit, fi-di, vegetable* and all other
kinds or provisions, subject to a scale of prices which
shall be established by the Post Treasurer, and posted
in two conspicuous places in the Market.
2. The Market shall tr tbe opened on Sundays.
On other days it shall be open from four o’clock to
nine o'clock in the morning, and on Saturday*, ulso
from three o'clock to eight o’clock in the afternoon
Tb.e Market shall closs at the ringinz of the Mar
ket bell.
3. Every person killing an ox, or cow, or grown
meat cattle, and exposing the same for sale within the
city, shall take the hide and head of said animal
slaughtered, attached to each other and not severed,
to the Clerk of the Market, who shall record any
marks abont the same, and the day of the month it
was brought to the market, and the book shall be
Subject to the inspection of any person driving market
hours. Any violations of the foregoing, or neglect on
the part of the Clerk in not keeping the proper records,
will be punished by fine.
4. Tlie Clerk of the Marks will be responsible for the
correctnessaf weights and measures used in the Market,
und will, from time to time, examine the same, und de
stroy fatso weights and measure* when found, and will
report the names of the oßendi g parties to the Post
Treasurer. He will also collect the Market licenses and
f, e3 prescribed by the old Ordinances of ’he City*. He
will act under the orders of the Post Trmsutvr, and will
account tor and pay over to him each Saturday the mo
nic* received from such licenses and fee* during the pre
ceding week. His will cause the Market end adjacent
ground* to he thoroughly policed each day, aud the wood
worn of the Market w ill bo white wash, and once each week.
5. Any person exposing for sale, in the market, any ar
ticles of marketing at a higher price than that ostaldi-h
ed for the same in the schedule of prices, will l>e sobject
to a fine and the forfeiture of all right to make tint her
sale* in the market. The Clerk of the market w ill report
promptly to tbo Po3t Treasurer aiiy violation of this par
agraph.

ing of the so-called Confederate unitorm. which yon
will cause the Police force of the city to see executed.
The order is intended to prevent the wearing of any
part of the uniform and not simply to have i lie insig
nia of rank removed, but does not prevent the wear
ing of grey clothing. .
The wearing of all military clothing or trimming*
by any persons except those who arc in the service of
the United States, is in violation of orders from the
War Department, and yon will at once take proper
measures to pi event it within the limits of yout Post.
