The Salvor, on coming up to the dock, plan afoul of the steamer Island City, damag j|feg tile port paddle box of this steamer and parrying away her head lines. |H Receipts of Cotton from the Interior.— i*rom the 3d inst. up to sunset last evening, 4ver 1,600 bales of cotton have reached Sa .ihnnah from Augusta. . The steamer Ama zon, Capt, Dillon, arrived on Wednesday fvening last, having on board over 1,000 tiales cotton, 75 bales domestics, turpentine, oil, ifprd, tobacco, etc. This is the largest cargo yet brought down the river. In a few weeks several steamers will be put into the trade, of exceedingly light draught. The want of these steamers is sorely felt, particularly while we have full rivers, as is at present the case Marine Transportation.— Since the occu pation of Savannah by the Union forces there has scarcely been a more important branch of the service thau that in charge of the Chief Quartermaster and his Assistants, in Marine and other .Transportation Capt. S. S. Starr, A. Q. M., has faithfully served as Clftef Quartermaster in charge of the Dis trict and Post of Savannah, Lieut. D. R. Though the labor has been, a tax, day and night, it ha3 been done thoroughly. ...Mr. Downing for three years wagjin charge of the Freight Department of the Express Company in this city. - ‘r— , ISeguo Burglar Caught. —On Monday afternoon a bold attempt was made to rob tjfte house of Mrs. M. A. Cohen, on Hull •tieet, between Bull and Whitaker streets, by a negro map named Henry Johnson. Mr. , James F. Bull, who resides there, in coming dowliffrom his room to go out, discovered the Imsf m the front parlor, and his suspic ions king excited, he interrogated the man as Kohe object of his visit, Johnson replied that he called to see a iady, at the same time going towards the door. Mr. Bull discover , ed 3ome silver protruding from his pocket, aud strove lo detain him, hut was unsuccess ful, He followed him on to the street, how ever, and after an exciting chn.se finally cap-, tured him at the comer of Habersham and Bay street. Judgment having been rendered in favor of plaintiff for the above specified sum on the third day of July, 1865, and it being repre sented to the Court that said amount re mains unpaid, upon motion of Hon. M.
