Arrival of a New Steamer for a Lint Com.

Georgia.
'Hie magnificent light draugt side-wheel steamer
tfm. 0. Olbbons, Intended to communicate with
Southwestern Georgia by connecting with the Albany
and Oulf BailroaU trains at Doctortown, arrived at
Savannah yesterday morning at 9 o’clock, having
made the run from Wilmington, Delaware, where she
w aa built, In four days. Her dimensions and de
scription are as follows : Length, 155 feet; breadth
of beam, 26 feet; kneed throughout with Iron ; sides
and bottom of 5-16 Inch Iron ; lower deck clear fore
and aft for freight; she will carry about 1000 bales of
ootton, and has accommodations for one hundred
passengers; two Inclined high-pressure engine*;
cylinders 20 lache9 In diameter; stroke of piston 6
feet *

brated builders, Messrs. Pursey, Jones A Cos., of Wil
mington, DeL, and this alone Is a sufficient guaran
tee of her ability to meet the high expectations of her

Bartels A Riddell Is annulled by the recent order of
Gea. Brannan, restoring the property to Mr. Wlltber
ger. In our advertising colums will be found an an
nouncement of the dissolution of Messrs. Bartels &
Riddell’s partnership, and the announcement that
the house will now be conducted by the firm of wilt
berger A Bartels.
THE Timber Trade or Savannah by the Central
Railroad.— Prom'several stations on the Central
Railroad, east of the junction with the Sivanuah A
Augusta Railroad and adjacent to the Central Rail
road, many persons who could not find a market for
the timber cut by them, have rafted the same to
points near Savannah. The Ogeechee and the Oconee
rivers being closed by low water, are again open, to
a certain extent—that Is, Umber and lumber can
pass down without encountering obstrucUon.
Steamer St. Helena—La3t evening many per
sona were attracted to the dock, foot of Drayton
streets on the supposlUon that another new steamer
had arrived for the coast or up-river trade. An ex
aminaUOn proved the steamer to lie the “ Beaure
gard.” Her first name was the Ida, but a change of
name was ordered by the Confederate Government.
She Is now called the St. Helena. Capt. Cercopley
has now a flne steamer, her upper works and pilot
house having been rebuilt.
The steamer St, Helena Is ordered to report at Sa
vannah, having been placed In charge of oen. Sax
ton’s Department, and for the benefit of the Freed
men between Savannah and Darien, Ga.
Steamer Gen. Berry.—The passengers on the
Gen Berry, on her last trip from this city to Augusta,
unite in a highly complimentary cardtoCapt. Henry,
Purser Louis, and the subordinate officers of the
steamer, for the kindness and attenUon shown them
on the passage, and recommend the Gen. Berry to All
who desire to make a speedy and 3afe trip between
Savannah and Augusta.
Hour of Sailing Postponed —At the request of a
number of persons who wish to remain In Savannah
until evening for the purpose of closing their busi
ness arrangements, the agents of the Gen. Berry
have decided to detain her until 8 o'clock, P. M.
This accommodation wUi further benefit the public,
as she carries the D S Mali, which will therefore not
close until six, P. M.
Lunch at the Our House.—To-day Dan will re
appear at the Our House at U o’clock, as of yore,
with his rare soups and tempting side-dishes, while
Mike and John will dispense the fluids with their cus
tomary skill and affability. The Our House lunch
was once an institution, and the old customers of the
establishment will be gratified at its revlvaL
For Florida.—The steamer Fountain, Capt. Cast
ner, the regular packet between Savannah and Pa
latka, Florida, leaves this morning on her regular
trip, touching at all the lutennediate points between
Savannah andPalatka
Dog Lost.—Capt, E. 0. Dike, A. A. G., advertises
the loss of a iavorlte terrier dog, for the return of
which he will give a liberal reward.

tion to recover the Pulaski House, corner of Bull and
Bryan streets, In the city of Savannah, under or
ders of Brevet Major Gen. J. M. Brannan, dated Aug.
8,1865, In the above case it was ordered that the
lease made out by Capt. s. S. Starr, A. Q. M., to
Bartels A Riddell, Proprietors of the Pulaski House,
U tendered null and void by the order of Brevet
Major Gen. J. M. Brannan, of August 8,1866, and the
property thus described will be at once delivered to
Mr. William 11. Wlltberger, together with all prop
erty therein, except such as belongs to Bartels;* Rid
del. The failure of the parties to comply with this
order lnstanter, win subject them to the alternative
of being forcibly ejected. It was also ordered that
the defendants pay the costs of suit. Counsel for

Clipper Vessel fob New Yoke.—We call atten
tion to the advertisement by Messrs. Chas. L. Colby
A Cos., of the Baltimore sailing clipper Wenonab for

Specie.-There Is hardly a noticeable change in
the demand or sale of gold and sliver. Gold Is sell
ing at 46 to 46K per cent premium, and buying at
44K to 45. Silver buying rate S5 ; selling at 40 per
cent premium.
Freights.—A good boatable river and large re
ceipts of cotton has caused considerable activity—
Freights to New York bysall vessel have declined.—
We give the following as fair quotations : To Augus
ta, measurement goods, |l per foot; by weight, $4
per cwt. Cotton to N. York, compressed,by steamer,
A cent per lb; by sail vessel % cent per lb ; un
compressed by sail vessel, M cent per lb. To Florida,
goods by weight, $l5O per cwt; measurement, 3o
cents pel foot. Liberal deductions for large ship
ments will be made to Florida. Vessels sotted for the
lumber and timber trade are in demand, to load at
Darien, south of Savannah, aud other points, for the
North, Cuba, etc.
Insurance.—A very fair business Is doing mall
descriptions of Insurance. The rates charged by
steamer from Augusta on cotton and domestics are
from lYf to 2 per cent: bv flat I stats s per cent; up
river risks by steamer 1 per cent.
Stocks and Bonds—A very limited business do
ing In all descriptions of stocks. They are not quot
able.
Cncurrent Money—There Is a fair business in
bank bills without change In quotations. We con

Lemons and Oranges —A stock ample Is] offering.
Lemons we quote at sl6 to S2O ¥ box, a decline on
previous rates. Sicily Oranges S2O ¥ box.
Sardine^— Are In request at S3O ¥ hundred quar
ter boxes.
Bacon—The stock offering Is only for city tiade.

Biscuits—Are In demand lor the local trade. Soda

desire for operations. We quote Brown Sugars 18 to

Starch.—Good Family Starch Is selling at 15 to 16
ots. ¥ lb., demand light.
Herrings—The stock Is ample at 65 to 75c. for
box.
Lumber.—Yellow Pine Lumber Is retailing from
mill at SSO ¥ M feet. Spruce Pine Lumber and Scant
ling from wharf at $39 to S4O ¥ M feet.
Wool.—Small lots are offered on the market. We
quote unwashed Fleece at 34 cents ¥ lb.
Beeswax—ln fair demand at 43 cents ¥ lb.
HlDEB—Dry Hides are In request at 8 to 9 cents.
Leather.—We quote fine Hemlock Tanned at 40c.

Tobacco—Fine grades are held at 72 to 75 cents ¥
lb. Medium brands 42 cents.
Wines and Liquors—No change in prices. Im
ported and genuine Heldslck Wines are selling at S4O
to 50 ¥ case, American Champaign $24 to 30 ¥ case.
Os Liquors, the stock Is ample. Wallace’s Imperial
Nectar from store at $3 50 ¥ gallon: Columbian Gin

Soap—ls In fair demand. For Family 14 to 1414
cents is the selling rates in small lots.
Bagging—ls without change. We quote Gunny at
26 cents.
rope.—Supply large, and holders very firm. De
mand very light ; we quote Manilila at 20 cents, aud
Kentucky at.l7 cents.
Hay—A very full stock offering. We have not
learned of any large transaction. Front store North
ern Is selling at $1 50 per cwt.
Bban.— Sales at retail have been made since last
repojjf at $2 50 per cwt.
Flock.—We quote from $7 to $lO according to
quality, Th* stock Is exceedingly large and all
transacilous are of a local character.
Corn.—The market Is without change. Stock ade
quate. We quote White from store at $1 25, and
Yellow at slls to 41 20.
Oats -Are selling from store In small lots at $l
per bushel for white.
Salt.— The stock offering of Liverpool Is quite light,
and Is held at $4 per sack- Coast Salt Is selling at
75 cents per bushel.
Butter continues In fair demand at 38 to 40 cents.
Cheese—No change :we quote at 17 a2O cents.
Coffee— There Is no change and the Inquiry is very
fair, we quote San Domingo 32 cents per lb. R o 32a

ence In rates.
Savannah Live Stock Market.
The market continues well supplied with Beeves,
Hogs aud Sheep ; of Veal there ls a scarcity.
From transactions made we are enabled to give
the following as fair quotations of the market:
Beetes.— On the hoof, steers 4to 6 years old, sls
to S2O per bead ; 8 year old steers, sl2 to sls 'P
head.
Hoos.—The only receipts are by wagons from the
adjacent counties, and the supply Is ffmple for pres
ent demand aud consumption. We quote at Bto 12
cent* $ lb., the rate being governed by the condition
of the animal.
Sheep.—There ls a full supply of Lambs offering,
and they are freely sold at $2 to $l5O head.
Calve*.—There being little stock on the market
hardly a fair quotation can be offered; sales are re
ported at lo cents 4* lb on the hoof.
