Colby A Cos., merchants of this city, was cleared yesterday for Jacksonville, Fla., by Messrs. Colby 4 Cos. The cargo of the AimaTi. Sims sas carefully selected for the Florida market. This hnc little craft carries out assorted goods, and will return with Sea Island cotton, hides, beeswax. In fact all the prpducw of the “Land of flowers.” May success attend the Anna E. Brutal Mcbpef—A brutal and most atrocious murder was combatted In this city on Wednesday uight last, a few minutesuifter nine o’clock. A colored man residing in Congress street lane, weut to the pump, at the junction of Broughton' and Habersham streets. After cuing his bucket and returning home, !i soldier, as Is supposed, dressed In tire uniform of a cavalryman, halted him and search, ed him for arms or other weapons. The negro es caped and ran for his home, which Is in Congress street lane, between Habersham and Lincoln streets the soldier following to the Fruit Store of Joshua Ricks, (colored) on the south-west comer of Haber sham and Congress street, which he entered. Imme diately upon entering the store he exclaimed, “what are you d—n negroes doing in here,” and raising hl6 carbine, fired. The.ball struck Wm. McAllister (col ored) on the left breast, passing entirely through Ills ieft lung and his body. In passing out, tne bal] struck the head of a soldier of the 103d United states colored l oops, Inflicting a slight injury. The murderer, after committing this act, llred one shot In the street and then ran away. •The uall discharged from what is believed to be a Spencer carbine Is conical In form, and lodged In the orlck wall of the store McAllister, when shot was standing, and the colored soldier sitting. iiicAlllater Is well Known In this city as the confi dential servant and carriage driver of Mrs. Maty Lavender, who raised William from a child ; all who were acquainted with the deceased give him an ex cellent character. He was honest and obedient, a strift Christian In every respect. William, from his wound lingered until yestqjday morning, when he breathed his last. Cargo Sale.—Messrs. The Fnited States by William Wray vs. Samuel Miller (colored) —Stealing two Bay Horses from Mr. Wm. Gamble, In Jeuterson county—plea not guilty.— It appearing that the defendant was arrested by In formation received that he had stolen two bay horses the property of Mr. Gamble, of Jeffeiaon county, which ssjd horses were pointed out by him to Mr. Wra. Wray after his arrest, aud it appearing fully from the examination of witnesses that he Is guilty of the offence with which he Is chaiged. It Is or dered that he be closely confined in the common jail of Chatham county; for the term of twelve months from this date and lie thereafter discharged. Robert Mahon (colored,) vs. Peter Haywood (col' ored,) cutting and striking at Robert Mahon, in a state of intoxication on the liight of Sept. 13th, 1865 Plea guilty.
