Public opinion as well as that of the commission and other officers of tbo army has taken a stroogtam in Briscoe's favor since the trial commenced, and the verdict w.it probabiy lie coupled with a re eorumendatkfn to Executive clemency. Memorial from Alabama Concerning Clement C. Clay.—The delegates to the Alabama Convention have meinoralizad the President to order a speedy trial of Clement C. Clay, of their State, who was one of the reputed Confederate agents in Canada dur ing the war, and who was suspected of im plication in the plot which resulted in the as sassination of President Lincoln. Our Wash ington despatches say it is probable the prayers of the memorialists will be granted. —There arrived at New York on the 25th, from foreigu and domestic ports, ninety three vessels of all classes.
